There is a quick way to lose my sympathy and agreement... censor me.

So I read the following post by @onealfa. Curation at it's worst... I actually thought he had some points. I chimed in.

I then went and wrote another post...

I waited and noticed the auto-vote he was talking about didn't happen. I took the time to go back and tell him it looked like the person he pointed out listened.

Then I noticed he chose to hide my comment.

I have A LOT bigger problem with that type of activity than the activity he chose to point out. He had my support. Yet now his own actions need challenge...

image.png

The above image is what I encountered... "Hidden due to low reputation or author preferences".

It looks like to me he is trying to put things that don't fit his desired outcome out of view... let me share my comment here... Let me know if you think it deserved to be hidden.

image.png

If I was not so against down votes this post would now be getting a down vote for me. I'm actually a little miffed I up voted the post. I had higher expectations. This actually pisses me off far more than what he was pointing out. If this is acceptable behavior for #proofofbrain then it will make me think twice about increasing my stake and posting in it as I have. I actually don't think this is acceptable behavior though.

It is not quite hypocrisy but it is a close neighbor.

I'm going to go ahead and UNHIDE the other people too... let's see what they had to say.

EDIT: For the record I was fine with not receiving a bot vote. That is why I up voted his post, commented, and let him know it looked like @richardcrill listened. I am not fine with the actions he took though. Pretty manipulative and cowardly as far as I am concerned. If he didn't like what I said tell me why.

I am also speaking up against a Whale. Perhaps not the smartest thing to do. Yet it will reveal whether hive is truly any better than steemit or not.

EDIT 2: I had no clue just how big @onealfa, @onealfa.pob, @onealfa.leo, and many other accounts WAS when I responded. Thus, I treated him the same as any other user. I stand by that. Yet I do suspect some people are having the "backup, don't get too close" type of thoughts going through their heads as they wait for the hand of God to smite me.

EDIT 3: This post is an example of how I choose to present my version of a DOWN VOTE without actually down voting someone.

EDIT 4: @onealfa.pob has up voted this post and some comments/replies. That is indeed better than steemit and he didn't smite me. That earns back some respect.

Yeah … I seem to always get downvoted or muted on Hive for being happy. Hive hates happy people. ProofofBrain is better than this.

I don't consider such activities as worthy of "proof of brain".

Me neither … but there is a huge problem with Censorship and Censureship on Hive. It needs to be fixed. Hopefully the big brains on ProofofBrain can fix these problems…

The argument has always been that it is not censored as it is still on the blockchain and can be found.

Yet things can be financially censored, and they can be visibility reduced/oppressed.

While it is true they cannot be completely censored that is mostly semantics and word games to allow them to do distasteful things.

It has been a problem for a very long time and nobody is allowed to talk about it. Or you are censured.

Well partially because if we want to remain decentralized there is not a particularly good way to solve it that won't centralize power, and/or easily be defeated by using multiple accounts.

I tried to come up with a solution. I never could come up with one that wouldn't introduce centralization, make the problem worse, or be easily bypassable.

Agreed. We have to just learn to live with all the power being in the hands of 1 or 2 Hive whales. Nothing can be done to change this. Resistance is futile. Submit or die. It’s not worth the fight.

You can fight. You just can't enforce it. You can fight with words.

I've seen it make a difference before.

I've also seen it not make a difference.

It depends upon the whale, and how convincing your words are.

The true test is to now see if I am suddenly targeted.

I realized I forgot to tag @richardcrill since this is directly in relation to the original post which targeted him.

I had a good weeks worth of hive shit tokens taken off me. Last week. People are nasty and spiteful just because, seems we will never get a world of peace, just because. Maybe some need to read a better book and behave better, maybe others where abused, I never abused you. Maybe some are just a bit dim, Read more, learn more, Maybe we are doomed, I have little time left, You lot sort it out!

I dunno. Censorship on a single page, by it’s user, seems like an acceptable level of censorship. If Hive accounts are analogous to private property, the owner has a right to silence whom they please. I wouldn’t tolerate certain behavior or language in my home or business. Same applies here. I think censorship is an actual problem when it becomes system wide, as in a blacklist or something like that. Also, there’s the option to expand the comments / alerts, so you’re not really censored in a hard way at all. I say this without condemning you or condoning him. Trying to speak to a principle here.

SO tell me what I said that deserved to be concealed from other people without them needing to expand it?

Personally, I don't think anything contained in your responses warrants hiding, but then again, I'm not the OP. I can't get in their head.

This is true. I wouldn't expect you to be a mind reader. I simply see nothing in what I wrote that warrants concealing it from other people. Especially since I didn't attack anyone, bad mouth anyone, etc.

If I had bad mouthed people I could see that as justification and I likely would not have responded with this post.

I don't like the down vote. This post is my answer to that. I down vote using words. Fortunately it is very rare that I even feel the need to do this.

I would be miffed as well, but it's probably a good thing in the long run. Now you won't waste your time with them. If there's anything I've learned real hard this past couple of years is that when someone tells you who they are, believe them. I think this person has kind of done that. Better to have fun elsewhere.

Yes too true. I also try to give them the benefit of the doubt. Yet in this case I am likely just blowing into the wind.

LOL

onealfluff is too busy doing his BROOM TORUK! crap to read comments that don't reply with "thank you sir you are awesome"

Give him a break he can't write English well so he likely finds it difficult to read your well written comments often.

lmao @onealfa why did you downvote? I can help you with your English. I can help you look less like Popeye too..

Yet I do suspect some people are having the "backup, don't get too close" type of thoughts going through their heads as they wait for the hand of God to smite me.

lol, this gave me a chuckle.

My main concern with this mentality in Proof Of Brain is that many are motivated by fear because survival from rewards is present. This compromises the PoB mechanics and gives power of influence to those with increasingly growing stakes ("you'll lose my support if you don't share my point of view").

I waited and noticed the auto-vote he was talking about didn't happen. I took the time to go back and tell him it looked like the person he pointed out listened.

As far as I can tell, @richardcrill has a 1 vote per 24-hour limit on his followed authors. He's made adjustments to his autovotes multiple times since the beginning of proofofbrain, I am sure he'll do it again (if this will be reactive or not, I do not know as I have never spoken to him either).

("you'll lose my support if you don't share my point of view").

In taking a look at his profile he seems to think this way.

image.png

At least that is how I was taking the following when I looked at it yesterday. Though it could mean something completely innocuous. There is so little to that you kind of need to know what he is saying.

I suspected he was basically saying "Do you want to be ignored by me, or preferred by me?"

I suspect a lot of people want to be preferred by him due to the promise of rewards. I am not calling him a BAD ACTOR. I am only calling out this particular action.

I also saw him in a post earlier talking about using bots to vote no longer being worth doing since the last HF but he did specifically indicate bots to randomly vote. The randomness makes it quite different from someone bot voting the same people all of the time.

Though as to bots... I see bot activity all over the place. I'd say it is nowhere as bad as steemit and that is a good thing.

I actually was fine with him calling it out. I do know why someone might bot up vote my posts if they are not going to be interacting a lot. I do try to put some effort and thought into what I write so there is a good chance they'd get a favorable return on their investment for how they chose to use their vote.

I'd prefer if that wasn't the reason someone chose to up vote my content though. I'd prefer it to be for the content itself.

I couldn't see any reason someone would try to hide what I said other than it was someone on the list he pointed out saying "Hey, I don't know this person" and speculating on some ideas.

It might have reduced the IMPACT of his post. Maybe he didn't consider someone answering his charges as important. I don't know.

Yet I thought it was pretty distasteful.

I just went through this same crap with "honeydue." I never posted anything rude or offensive to her. I merely disagreed with her article, and she did that "Hidden due to low reputation or author preferences" thing to me too. Then this other jerk in the comments section decided to downvote one of my articles that had not yet reached its seventh day. I don't know what his problem was, because I never said anything to offend him in my reply to his comment. I even kept a neutral stance on his opinion. I guess I should have waited until the eighth day before posting anything in the comments section of that same article. He was from Shanghai, China. I didn't think that regular civilians had access to the Internet in that nation because of the communist regime. I feel like going on his Hive channel and giving him a dose of his own bitter medicine. In any event, I liked your article.
