My Budget Gaming PC Build Progress Report Receives "Feedback"
I created this progress report on Threads, detailing my current progress in building my first gaming rig. I neglected to specify that I found a build list from a man on YouTube who builds PCs, and these parts were listed at the time I saw his list, which was in December. His video aired in October 2024. He made it FOR 2025. So people could get a head start on the holidays. I assumed no one would notice or care since a handful of posts flop, which is why that was left out. I didn't expect people to criticize it. I should have expected it. Again, my posts on Threads hardly get seen, the same as Twitter.
The post on Threads was SWARMED with faceless bots/armchair critics telling me "it's gonna blow up," telling me it's "sketchy" with zero proof against the developers of the parts, etc. They're acting like a sleezy dude in an alley who's a scammer made the parts.
Some chewed me for making a budget build to get started. Others chewed me for using an "outdated" DDR4. The post is still on my Threads, comments are off, so no more bots/critics swarm me because im not doing an expensive build right away. I bet if it were an expensive build, they'd still have something to say and say I could build a rig for 600-700 bucks that can handle most modern games. And save my money for upgrades when the next gen comes out. I can upgrade once I get comfortable. I looked at the system specs required for the games on Steam, I'd likely play. I play demanding games on console, and I'm also saving for a PS5. Steam is a gaming platform where you buy games, and then when I searched for a build list, I checked the CPU the creator used. I found this man's list, and he states it will handle most modern games and tested Fortnite at the end of his build tutorial.
I'd likely play the Sims, Roblox, and story-driven games, etc. I will play on Xbox and my soon-to-be saved for PS5, and want a PC strong enough to handle streaming.
I did a budget build because this is my first time building a gaming pc. I'm unsure if I will like building a gaming PC. I wanted to test the waters. I regret not building a PC when I received my stimulus check during lockdowns to test the waters, or buying a pre-built gaming rig, then saving up to upgrade the parts as we advanced to the next-gen gaming. That shows how out of touch folks are. It never occurred to them that not everyone has 1K+ to spend on a PC right away. Also, you don't need to spend over 2k for a PC. Unless you want to. The critics claim it will die sooner when I read a comment on the man's video stating their budget build still works after 5 years.
Also, imagine the heat the man would get from having people build PCS that will die in 2 years. Nowadays, companies aren't making appliances and electronics that last for years anymore. This man knows what he's doing. Also, if people's machines are dying too soon, there's missing key info. Did the person clean it? Did their case have good airflow? How people take care of their things plays a role.
This man builds PCs, and he'll sell them or give them away.
I'm sure I can trust this guy. I added the parts in the order I chose to buy them. I went to Best Buy to check if they sold PC parts in case the parts on his list sold out. I showed the lady what I saved and showed her the tutorial I'm following, and she trusted this guy. I even added the parts from the list to the PC part picker, and nothing came back concerning. Perhaps the bots were trying to mislead someone inexperienced or make fun of me because it's "cheap."
I made a progress report on my build for my vlogging challenge. I don't remember which day it was for.
Not everyone's intentions are good; there are always people wanting to bring you down. The bots were probably rich and could afford an expensive build.
I will do progress reports, but post with comments off to avoid being made fun of by rich gamers. I get overwhelmed with loads of comments, and regulating DMs is easier.
That way, I can divert my attention to someone serious.
I wish the posts about your build were as detailed as the posts about haters.
This post isn't about the build; it's about how people were quick to make fun of me because I wasn't building a 2k PC right away, and 9 times out of 10, if it were a 2k build, they'd still have something to say. I've mentioned multiple times that progress reports will be a part of my daily vlogging challenge.
