Checking On Our Banana Farm At The Backyard

This morning I was inside my room watching movies in my phone when I heard my mother was shouting my name Emmanuel come out fast and take a look outside the house backyard to see who's stealing our banana. I came out of my room in a hastily way and rushed outside to check who's stealing our banana. When I got out, I met a man at the backyard, precisely our neighbor that was weeding his farm .

I greeted the man and asked him if he has seen anyone outside apart from him and the he said nobody else is here apart from him. So I went back home and told my mother it was our neighbor that was weeding his farm that's closed to ours. My mother said better because she thought is a thief that's trying to steal or cut down our banana and run away with it like they did last year.

Last year my mother was inside the house in the evening around 6 or 7pm when she heard a sound like someone is cutting a tree or a sound like something fell down and suddenly after some miniatures she didn't hear anything again. She didn't care to check outside to see who's cutting a tree or what has fallen down and make that sound. It was the next day in the morning when she woke up to feed her pigs she noticed our banana at the backyard has been cutdown or stolen. That's why this evening when she heard that sound around the backyard she call out on me to check fast because it reminds her of what happened last year . Last year the banana has yielded good fruits, the fruits are bigger than this one you are looking at. But we couldn't eat the fruit of our hard labour because it was stolen.

I had to talked to her that what happened last year will not repeat itself again. Nobody else where will come and steal it again this year. We will wait when it ripe then we will cut it down and eat from it.
She still insisted that we should be vigilant and be making sure nobody comes in and steal it or cut it down even when we are asleep.

I laughed at my mother when she said we should be vigilant even at night, I told her what if the thief come and cut it down when we are all asleep? Nobody will know what is happening outside if we are all asleep. But I assured her God's willing nothing bad will happen to the banana, she will eat from it. My mother loves eating banana so much, infact is one of her favorite. I can see it from her eyes how eager and passionate she is to eat from the fruit of the banana. I just pray and wish nobody temper with this banana as they did last year if not my mother will not be happy.

This banana is looking good and they're greenish, these days we have been receiving constant rainfall am sure in due time or few weeks it will yield good and bigger fruits.
I had to looked for cutlass and clear some grasses to keep the area clean. Later on my mother told me to fetch goats fieces, mixed it and pour it in the banana so that goats will not be able to eat the leaf or break it down by climbing it.

I need to put more eyes on this banana to prevent the story that will touch my mother heart if this banana fruit is stolen my mother will not be happy. These days especially this farming period, people farm produces starting getting ripe, you will hear different stories that this person's yam farm thieves stole it, that person's groundnut some unknown people uproot it and went away with it.

So, I need to be more conscious and vigilant to prevent our banana that's at the backyard away from thieves or those lazy people that doesn't want to do anything useful with their lives except by going up and down stealing people's farm.

Rather than neglecting it and not taking care of it regularly for them to come and steal it.
