4384 Followers!
That's quite a few followers, right? One would think I'd made a few friends along the way and that some of those followers were still active and had a vested interest in Hive, especially with the new hard fork dropping last week.
I've been here long enough to see over half of the forks this chain has gone through, including the massive one that gave birth to the place you are reading this now. The one that peeled away the scrutiny of Justin Sun and gave what people consider freedom back to the chain. The freedom to choose! The freedom to build! All these wonderful freedoms that have given you what Hive is today, after 5 long years.
People have come and gone since then, some of them really good people, some of them, probably not so much. But after being here for so long, I had my suspicions about what this place really is. I even built the District around that principle and it has been proving more true at every corner. I built the Alliance around another belief. Have you heard of the PIMP token or The Alliance? Those are the main two, um, Hive things I claim credit for.
But ya know, maybe it's better if I just hop in shotgun for a bit. I been driving a really long time. I haven't stopped to smell many roses or touched much grass. Granted, I probably have more minutes in the paint than most, and that doesn't mean I ain't gonna play. It just means, silence tends to speak louder. And the silence I got? Deafening.
4384 followers though! I mean, that's a lot of people, right? You want to know how many of those people said anything to me or was concerned that I had not updated my witness? One. Yup, just one. I don't know weather to be sad or pissed off. I do know, I don't need to be a witness anymore. There is more than one way to, I don't know, do something.
So, I will be shutting down the @pollenation witness and my own. I will still operate the curative efforts of the honey and bumble bees out there trying to make this a better place, don't worry. I just feel like there isn't much of a point being as heavily vested in Hive anymore to the point of carrying on trying to scrounge a few HP here and there in the hopes I might make it to the top 20. Because I'm not going to, the circle is chosen in this place. I'll still be here, just. A. Lot. Quieter.
Aaaand no, I wasn't threatened by anyone or fell off any rockers. Maybe in the future I'll reinstate it, but as it is right now? I need to focus on other things and after the Discord server purge, this was my next target. And yes, there are other targets set up. #staytuned and REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when it's #fuckit.

Sad to see you go as a witness , finding out that almost no one gives a damn ain't easy, on the other hand if you look at https://hive.arcange.eu/witnesses and see how manny witnesses have been offline for a very long time and still receive votes , you start to wonder how many people actually care about witness votes .
I also wonder how many people actually knwo that a witness needs to be updated when there is a hardfork , i think most of them think like you get the update from google play right ? or maybe even apple store .
Not everyone is an IT guy / gal keep that in mind .

Sad to hear it, but its understandable. As is, it's impossible for anyone to break into the top 20, making it something of a thankless job. Hell, doing anything on Hive these days sometimes feels a bit pointless with those on top rigging it so they get all the spoils while everything else drys up. I should check the witness page more often to see how the people I vote for are doing, but I barely have time to do my own posts these days. If only a day had 36 hours, amirite?

I'm sorry to see you stepping back, but I don't blame you at all. Your reasoning is sound, and hugging the people you love is only going to get more important as life goes on. I'm sorry I didn't notice, but I'll be honest...even after all this time, I still don't even know where to look to see if a witness has been updated, or what all that means/entails. I didn't know you had to update the witness before the HF. I just look at who is still active from time to time to use all the votes. I'm sorry to read that you withdraw them, just today I raised my level in !PIMP I think that says about my trust in you and my gratitude for being there since my beginnings. I've been here for "only" 4 years - not a long time, but not that short either - and this is the first time I've felt a bit discouraged about Hive... everything seems so quite, so many people have left and so many have lost the desire to build... hope Hive can recover from this situation and thrive again.
I don't check witness very often, but I'm sad to see your getting down... altough it's understandable (I do much less and yet I struggle everytime to keep doing it).

Been a struggle and I'm just done with the politics of it all.
Getting in the top 20 seems almost impossible if you aren't part of one of inner circles... and this also lead to the top 20 witnesses not having a reason to do better and improve what they do, as they can stay there forever by doing the bare minimum (this doesn't apply to all of them oc, there are some good ones who deserve their spot).
Guilty as charged. I'm working to interact and post more as I've been less involved over the summer. I need to pare down my follower list so I'm not bombarded by so many notifications.

The fork certainly took the DPoS wind out of my sails. Much like you my presence here is to use the positive aspects of the platform and except the negatives for what it is; and has always been since that fork. Glad you are not leaving entirely. A change will do you good.
