Discovering Art Beyond My Limits
Hello there my lovely hivers!!!
Last Thursday our subject teacher announced that we had an activity in art appreciation where we would draw one subject and the color value is only one and the extension colors are white, gray and black. This is the activity that I don't really like, since I'm bad at drawing and mixing colors. But this is our subject all about and it's more about drawing.
Before our next meeting which is today Monday, I was really stressed practicing how to shade properly. My brother helped me to shade the black to green and it makes the artwork look messy. I was nervous to color my artwork on the day of our class since I'm bad at mixing colors, even though I stay up all night to practice but I didn't know the sequence to blend it.
Earlier, I tried my best to focus on my drawing but focus on my artwork. The oil pastel was hard to blend so I chatted with my friend if she could bring her color pencil so I could use it for my artwork. I chatted with her around 6:00 am and I was over thinking at that time what if she just ignored my chat. But around 9:00 am when I was heading to the school, she chatted to me that she just woke up with a crying emoji. I was laughing while seeing her chat but she arrived in our room around 10:50 am. Thankfully, our teacher was not around at that time, she would not mark late.
I first sketched my subject, and I can't really decide what should be the easier subject but I couldn't find one. The only problem that I have is how to blend the colors. I ended up choosing this pear since I saw an inspo on the internet and it looks real and perfect. And I think that I could perfectly copy the color of his artwork but I was wrong. It takes time to practice the blending and as a person that doesn't have a talent like this it's hard for me to do it.
This activity really tested my artistic skill, it challenged me so hard but I will try my best to make it the best.
At 11:00 am this is what my artwork looks like, it looks pale even though I shaded it with my force but it just turned out so boring. The artwork would be cool if your color would blend perfectly with highlights. It will put a life into your artwork.
This is my friend's artwork, I just love how it turned out and she just used an oil pastel but as we were minding our own business focusing on our artwork, she blended it way too hard and the texture of the cardboard was bumpy.
I was roaming around and looking at my friend's artwork and I was jealous of how their artwork turned out. It looks real and perfect, they mostly use acrylic painting and that made me decide to buy a one set of paint.
In a whole day, I was really thinking the whole time about my artwork on how to put a life on my sketch. When I was observing my classmate, it looked so easy. That made me think that if they could do it, I could do it too.
Around 2:00 pm we headed to gaisano to buy acrylic paint for our activity. Thankfully, I had extra money so I used it to buy the paint. The paint itself cost 141 plus we buy separate brushes that cost 93. It's a little expensive but it's for my grade.
Yummmm! take a bite!! :P
Thanksss

When I watched video of people making art, they made it look really easy, but if I try na, super hirap! Art is cool, especially if we know a lot about it. Sad wala talaga akong talent sa art. Anyways, you have this kind of activity, thats actually so cool. For sure with that they will also teach you all the proper shading and those color palette keneme, fir color combination. That part is the hardest for me! Your art still look okay, as a beginner I think. It will improve pa for sure if you hone it
Thanks a lot! 🫶 I agree, it looks so easy in videos but once you try it yourself, it’s actually difficult. But it’s worth it since we get to learn step by step. Shading and color combinations are also my weakness, but little by little I’m trying to learn. Hopefully I’ll improve as I keep practicing.
