Sunday morning hill run

Hi all! Welcome back, today I took a friend with me for some hill repeats. This friend did a few marathons some years back but struggled with injuries ever since - I am having quite some fun helping him slowly back in his routine. For me it brings some extra coziness and fun to chat. While the intensity was a bit lower compared to normal I did had a good workout. I sprinted most of the last parts of the climbs and was able to maintain a relatively low heartbeat.

Our strategy was as followed:

  • climb 3x (3 different sides of the hill with 3 different intensities)
  • rest few seconds (until one of us suggests to go again)
  • repeat.

Apart from a different intensity, I also made a little change in my gear. Last week I took the camelback with me and drank during the runs, which had some advantages but was also extra warm (and extra weight), today I just took a bottle of water with me and took sips on the resting spots in between sets. Felt easier to do - so I will experiment with it furter. Also due to the higher temperature I took 2 salt tabs to ensure I won’t get any issues with the heat (later today).

Fun, and will likely do this more often!

Happy running!

Good effort getting those hill sprints done in the heat!

I'm getting ready to head out shortly, and will just be doing 60 mins at a slow easy effort, its too hot for me to try anything more interesting

(although to be fair, I could have helped myself by going out early this morning when it was a bit cooler!)
