Here I was, refreshing myself and resting a little while after so much cleaning, when I learned some terrible news, something that will surely make me never forget this day, and that is that one of my closest friends who was currently living in Chile, died in a traffic accident while transporting the cheeses that he used to sell in his truck.

Aquí estaba yo refrescándome y descansando un ratito de tanto limpiar, en ese momento me enteré de una terrible noticia por cierto, cosas que seguramente hará que nunca pueda olvidar este día, y es que uno de mis amigos más cercanos que estaba viviendo actualmente en Chile, falleció en un accidente de tránsito mientras transportaba los quesos que se dedicaba a vender en su camión.

Here's a little bit of how I had to scrub each chair to get all the mess off. That night I got home exhausted and everything ached, from my back to my arms, my legs, EVERYTHING! It was hard work, but we did it as a team and everyone pitched in. Thank goodness they only used flour and cornstarch because if they had used white paint, it would have been a disaster because they splashed it all over the place, from the tables and chairs to the display cases and the walls.

Aquí les muestro un poco cómo tenía que darle a cada silla para que saliera todo lo que echaron. Esa noche llegué a mi casa re-cansada y me dolía todo, desde la espalda hasta los brazos, las piernas, TODO! Fue un trabajo duro, pero lo hicimos en equipo y todos pusimos de nuestra parte para colaborar. Menos mal que solamente usaron harina y maizena porque si hubieran usado la pintura blanca, eso si habría sido un desastre porque salpicaron todo, desde las mesas, las sillas hasta las vitrinas y las paredes.

The thing is, there weren't many of us, just the bartender, the wife of one of the owners, and me. These days after Carnival are definitely some of the hardest I have at work, but it's all for the good of my children and my dream of owning my own bakery where I can sell my sweets and breads made with love.

El detalle es que no éramos muchas personas, solo el bartender, la esposa de uno de los dueños y yo. Estos días después de carnaval sin duda son de los días más difíciles que tengo en mi trabajo, pero todo sea para el bien de mis hijos y mi sueño de tener una repostería propia donde vender mis dulces y mis panes con mucho amor.
