Mowin' Monday on the Homestead- Real Proof of Work!
So being the caretaker of our little homestead farm, today was lawn mowing day. Cutting a nearly 2 acre plot with a push mower is an all day event, haha. But when it's done, man, it feels and looks great! Gives you a feeling of pride and accomplishment, not to mention the feeling of pain in your back and feet, haha! That comes with the 21,467 steps I have taken today doing this job, lol.
I am working on getting a riding lawn mower to tackle this job in the future so that I am not killing myself every other week, that and to make it a much faster job as I really don't want to take up my entire day cutting the grass. I guess I just eventually need to get a couple of cows or something to help me keep the grass tamed, haha. There are 4 main sections that I have to cut, so anything to cut down the amount of grass would be helpful. Eventually I will have a couple of bigger greenhouses so that will help.
It was also a successful test for my 3D printed gas can spout. Worked like a charm to replace the old dry rotted spout that was on the can I have. I actually printed a couple of versions of this before I finally got it right. The design I found was for a different style gas can so I had to make some adjustments in Tinkercad to make it fit the can I have. But being able to make your own replacement parts is pretty freaking cool if you ask me.
Anyway, that was my Monday, how was your's?
Until next time...
Be cool, be real, and always abide my dudes!

The grass looked spectacular! 😀
Thank you sir
Now that's a job well done haha! And this mowing, do you have to do it every how many days?
What do you think of an automatic mower? They're really practical, and now that they've developed well, they're not so expensive. I mean, it's probably the same price as a traditional mower.
With the size of your lawn, you might need two. Consumption-wise, it's not excessive. It's electric and recharges itself overnight.
Anyway, I think you already know ^^
Mine is a self propelled so that does help a bit with some of the terrain I have to deal with but it’s still a push mower. I haven’t even looked into an automatic mower to be honest. I need a riding mower for other reasons too. Like I need a trailer for it to haul brush, logs, rocks, etc from different pieces of the property. This spot isn’t the only acreage we have, but it’s the only stuff I really have to cut.
In this case, small automatic mowers are not ideal. Unless you have an automatic mower that does the mowing for you AND a quad or other small vehicle for the other tasks ;)
We have too many rocks and roots and such too that I have to watch out for. Certainly not ideal for one. But a good thought.
