First course - Gnocchi
Description
Gnocchi are a rather popular first course throughout the world.
They are small pieces of dough, usually round in shape, which are boiled in water then seasoned with various sauces.
Gnocchi have ancient origins and it seems that in Italy they appeared first in the northern areas, in particular in the regions of Lombardy, Piedmont and Veneto.
The most classic gnocchi are made with potatoes, flour and eggs.
This dish was born as a poor dish and it seems that its first appearances in Italy occurred during the period in which potatoes were imported from America.
My favorite gnocchi are those seasoned with ragù and the plain ones with melted butter and cheese.

Descrizione
Gli gnocchi sono un primo piatto piuttosto diffuso in tutto il mondo.
Sono dei piccoli pezzi di impasto, solitamente di forma tondeggiante, che vengono bolliti in acqua poi conditi con salse varie.
Gli gnocchi hanno origini antiche e sembra che in Italia siano comparsi prima nelle zone del nord, in particolare nelle regioni di Lombardia, Piemonte e Veneto.
Gli gnocchi più classici sono fatti con patate, farina e uova.
Questo piatto nasce come piatto povero e sembra che le sue prime comparse in Italia siano avvenute durante il periodo in cui le patate venivano importate dall’America.
Gli gnocchi che preferisco sono quelli conditi con il ragù e quelli in bianco con burro fuso e formaggio.

Probabilmente è vero che al Sud (e nelle isole) non mangiamo molto spesso gli gnocchi. Personalmente li conosco bene e li apprezzo conditi con la salsa di pomodoro, la mozzarella, il basilico e tanto formaggio grattugiato. Buon appetito!
Quelli con salsa di pomodoro piacciono anche a me. Non sapevo che le origini fossere del nord Italia, ma devo dire che quando sono stato in veneto, mi sono accorto che gli gnocchi facevano parte della loro tradizione

I wish I could have a taste
I did some research and some writings seem to say that it was actually an Italian idea. I like them a lot, both with tomato sauce and with melted cheese
I think this is the first time I've seen gnocchi, and I haven't tasted one before. It looks simple and delicious. I am a bit confused when you said it was a first course. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that usually the appetizer? But having dough for appetizer can be a bit filling right? Although I have seen some Italian restaurants serve bread while waiting for the food.

I confirm that this is not an appetizer, but a first course. in my research I found that this type of pasta actually seems to have Italian origins, the country where I live. I'm not sure what country you live in, but at this point it could very well be that you've never seen them.
Oh that makes sense. I guess it was obvious that I don't eat full course meals and the like haha. I love Italian food, and I don't think our restaurants have them, or I just haven't looked enough. I will try to taste them if I can find one. Thanks.

We made them at home, and they turned out very well. The difficulty lies in making them soft, ours were very soft.
