Today, on my way home from work, I stopped by the cheese stand where I usually buy cheese, crackers, and other things at least once a week. Right across the street, some city workers were finishing up the installation of the Christmas tree and the 2026 sign.

This made me reflect on how quickly the year has passed. It feels like we haven't accomplished anything, and this impression is even stronger for those who live in a comfort zone, thinking they've already achieved everything in life. Each person has their priorities; while some want to enjoy themselves, others seek professional and personal growth.

I love Christmas because it's a time when friends and family get together. But it's also a time when falsehood seems to be in the air. There's always that relative who spent the whole year away but shows up at the end just to give a forced hug, simply to fulfill the custom.

Even so, one of the things I love most about Christmas is the decorations in houses and squares, something that, unfortunately, has become increasingly rare. People today prefer, or need, to prioritize the basics, such as food, bills, and responsibilities, and Christmas decorations end up being put on hold.

Hoje, ao sair do trabalho, passei na barraca de queijo onde costumo comprar pelo menos uma vez por semana, queijo coalho, bolachas e outras coisas. Bem em frente, alguns trabalhadores da prefeitura estavam concluindo a instalação da árvore de Natal e do letreiro de 2026.

Isso me fez refletir sobre como o ano passou rápido. A sensação é de que não fizemos nada, e essa impressão fica ainda mais forte para quem vive numa zona de conforto, achando que já conquistou tudo na vida. Cada pessoa tem suas prioridades, enquanto alguns querem curtir, outros buscam crescer profissionalmente e pessoalmente.

Eu amo o Natal, porque é um tempo em que amigos e familiares se reúnem. Mas também é uma época em que a falsidade parece estar no ar. Sempre tem aquele parente que passou o ano inteiro distante, mas aparece no final só para dar um abraço forçado, apenas para cumprir o costume.

Ainda assim, uma das coisas que mais amo no Natal é a decoração nas casas e nas praças, algo que, infelizmente, tem se tornado cada vez mais raro. As pessoas hoje preferem, ou precisam, priorizar o básico, como comida, contas e responsabilidades, e a decoração natalina acaba ficando para depois.
