My First Dive Into Arcade Colony's Games

First off, I don't usually post game related content here on my blog. I'm usually posting precious metals, LEGOs, or musical content. However, games are becoming a bigger component here on Hive. As a matter of fact, I got started here on the Hive through Splinterlands a few years back. Then I got into posting and I haven't stopped since. Games continue to be built on Hive, as it's an excellent blockchain for game building and other financial products.

Today I finally decided to make my first dive into Arcade Colony after moths of watching @libertycrypto27 make strides and gains in the leader boards in Moon Karts. Then the other day @giuatt07 also made his first attempt into the platform and discovered there are other games beyond Moon Karts that look interesting, one in particular: Stake House Den.

At first I was tempted to try out Moon Karts. However, after reading @giuatt07 's issues with crashing and realizing just how much I really suck at Mario Kart, I decided that maybe I should try this game out a little later.

Instead I decided to put my initial focus on Stake House Den, since I have always enjoyed casino type gaming. They have Roulette, Blackjack and Slots. To get started with this game you first need to have some SCRIPT tokens, which can be purchased on Hive Engine. Then you need to transfer the tokens into the game and you are ready to get started, and it's very easy to do.

Next up, you are going to need some cards to play with. Which means either purchasing LADYLUCK packs either on Hive Engine or in Arcade Colony's market. I checked both place out and found the prices to be better in Arcade Colony, but it might have just been timing on my part. You can also purchase individual cards on the marketplace, but they do tend to be a little more expensive.

I purchased two packs and entered the menu selection to open up those packs and see what goodies I could pull.

Then I discovered you could use gold flux or legendary flux tokens to increase your chance of getting gold or legendary cards. Kind of like the potions in Splinterlands. For the first deck I didn't bother, but decided to gamble on the second one. However, I had no luck on the second pack and didn't get either even with the flux tokens. The tokens aren't expensive, and it might let you pull more valuable cards.

This was my second pack, I pulled an Ace of Spades, and epic card, which is selling on the market for $9.99. So not a bad pull! Plus those cards look really good for playing blackjack!

Another caveat to the game is you need hot sauce tokens to play. They can be earned by staking your cards or SCRIPT token. To get started I went ahead and staked all of my cards to start earning some hot sauce. Staking a card is easy, all you have to do is click on the card in the staking area and you will see applied appear. Then push the blue stake button on the bottom left and you are earning hot sauce. You just need to claim it from time to time.

Once I have some sufficient hot sauce, I will come back in and begin playing the game itself. I will have to unstake my cards before I get started though. I will need to purchase some more packs to make myself more competitive, but we'll see how it goes. I can then give you a better idea of how I like the gameplay. I'm excited to try this one out, it looks like a lot of fun!

There are still a few bugs that I'm sure the development team is rapidly fixing, but that is to be expected with any new game. Overall, I'm impressed by Arcade Colony so far and I'm looking forward to getting involved in the game play here on the platform!
