This specific investment is expected to create over 1,250 specialized jobs, strengthen thousands more through AWS’s support network, and place Amazon at the heart of artificial intelligence and cloud computing for decades to come. The company has already invested over $26 billion in the state since 2010 and has created more than 27,000 direct jobs.

AI ROBOT DELIVERIES

And all this makes perfect sense. Because to support everything it’s already doing—and everything it’s planning to roll out—Amazon needs MASSIVE processing power. And here comes the most impressive news.

Amazon is planning to use AI-powered humanoid robots to carry out… its deliveries!

According to recent information, the company has already begun developing artificial intelligence software specifically for humanoid robots. And not just that. It has built a “humanoid park” (an internal obstacle course) at its San Francisco offices to test them. Various robots are being trialed there, including one from Chinese company Unitree, which specializes in high-mobility, low-cost robots.

The plan is for these robots to board Amazon’s familiar Rivian vans, and once they arrive at their destination, to “jump out” and deliver the packages to customers. And if this sounds like a science fiction movie, keep in mind that one such van is already in the park undergoing initial tests! The idea is simple: to minimize human involvement in the last phase of delivery, reducing both costs and delivery times.

It’s worth noting that Amazon already uses over 750,000 robots in its distribution centers—but so far, we’re talking about closed environments. Now, we’re moving into an entirely new era. An era where robots won’t be behind the scenes, but at… our doorstep. Where instead of a courier, we’ll open the door to a robot delivering our order.

The most impressive part, though, is where this is all headed. At its research center, Lab126 in Sunnyvale, Amazon has formed a specialized team working on an “agentic AI” framework. The goal? To transform warehouse robots into versatile assistants that understand natural language and execute commands like real collaborators. We’re talking about robots that know when to fetch an item, how to collaborate with other workers, and even how to respond to unexpected situations.
