Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Another season has ended and I'm posting to summarize my achievements this season. This will also serve as my entry in the Splinterlands Social Media Challenge.

Before I start, I would just like to mention that a new mode of play, Survival Mode has gone live after an update coinciding the end of season. I think this is a great way to give utility to excess cards in the game and I may write about this mode in future posts. Anyway, let's proceed with today's topic.

Performance and Activities during the Season

I ended the season again at Diamond III earning around 500 SPS and 100k+ Glint tokens. During the season, I participated in Guild Brawls where I was able to acquire additional Gladiator cards including two copies of the strongest epic card, Quora Towershead. I pulled a legendary card, the Frigid Wolf from advancement chests and I also bought max copies of some cards including a legendary Uriel the Purifier. I spent all my Glints on buying legendary reward chests.

Spending Glints in the Reward Shop

I'm already satisfied on where my common, rare and epic card levels are at and now I'm working on my legendary card collection. I'm determined to upgrade my cards to competitive levels before the new set, Conclave Arcana comes. I earned over 100k Glints this season and I spent them on three legendary reward chests and I got the following cards.

I'm still missing a lot of cards and I'm still very far from my desired levels to be competitive. I need to complete the legendary collection and upgrade them to level 3.

Featured Battle: Frigid Wolf in Fog of War

My choice of favorite battle involves one of the new legendary cards, the Frigid Wolf. This battle highlights how his Charge ability is very useful in Fog of War ruleset. In Fog of War, abilities like Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity don't work but apparently, Charge can. Charge is an ability that allows a unit to attack from any position and this is not affected by the Fog of War.

In this battle, the rules are Fog of War, Odd Ones Out and Upclose and Personal. The allowed splinters are Water, Earth and Light. Without Fog of War, I would choose the Water team no doubt. Water has good melee, odd mana units but they are either Sneak or Snipe attackers like Kulu Mastermind and Pelacor Bandit. So I picked the Light Team instead with Franz Ruffmane taking the summoner duties.

Uriel the Purifier (tank/first position)

Uriel is beefy having 6 armor, 12 health and having Flying and Healing abilities. He is also an offensive threat dealing 4 melee damage and has the Recharge ability trippling his damage potential.

Marisol Contuma (offtank/second position)

Marisol is great in this ruleset having Reach ability and dealing 5 melee damage with 5 speed. He also has 4 armor and 8 health for tank duties to replace the main tank when the need arises.

Legionnaire Alvar (third position)

Alvar doesn't deal damage but he does decrease the enemy's melee damage with his Demoralize ability.

Halfling Refugee (fourth position)

The Halfling Refugee is a one mana card that I slot in. He can deal 3 melee damage when it's time for him to take the first position and he can also be beefy with 6 health.

Frigid Wolf (fifth position)

The Frigid Wolf has only 1 melee damage but in this battle proves crucial as it helps reduce the opponent tank's armor and health. I have three attackers in my team while my opponent only has two. This advantage proved very important in this battle as my team reduced the enemy tank's armor and health quicker than my opponent's.

Opponent Team

My opponent picked the Water splinter having a tank and a unit with Reach ability in second position. This means that he only has two units attacking my tank. His powerful damage dealer, Kulu Mastermind cannot deal damage until he takes the tank position.

The Battle

The combination of my attacks and Uriel's beefiness led to my easy win in this battle. The opponent team's damage is not enough to eliminate Uriel as he heals every round. Meanwhile, my damage dealers Marisol, Frigid Wolf and Uriel himself eliminate the enemy first position one by one.

Final Thoughts

This season has been great for me having increased my legendary card collection. I was also able to buy maxed out cards at bargain prices as I wrote in a previous post. Next season I will continue to grind and accumulate Glints to further increase my cards in anticipation of the new set.
