Chaos Legion Out Of Modern in 7 Days!
Selling Cards & Upgrading Rebellion Reward Cards!
On May 11, in 4 days and 20 hours, the presale of the new set of cards will end: the Conclave Arcana card set.
To date, it has sold:
- 99289 Standard Packs out of 500K packs available initially
- 46623 Alchemy Packs out of 100K packs available initially
- 9483 Legendary Packs out of 50K packs available initially
The presale has produced positive effects on the value of Splinterlands tokens and in particular on the market value of the DEC token, which has exceeded its peg twice in the past 60 days.
Two days after the presale ends, on May 13, the General Sale will begin, which will revolutionize the Modern Format because Chaos Legion cards and Riftwatchers cards will come out of the Modern Format and can only be used in the Wild Format.
There will be a real revolution in the game dynamics and balance of the Modern Format because Chaos Legion cards are the most in circulation considering that 10 million 641 thousand Chaos Legion packs containing 5 cards each have been opened.
According to data in the PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION DATA section of Splintercards, considering only non-Soulbound cards, there are in circulation:
- 8,756,819 Chaos Legion regular foil cards = 48,124,186 BCX
- 618,842 Chaos Legion gold foil cards = 1,939,226 BCX
- 592,689 Riftwatchers regular foil cards = 4,640,868 BCX
- 58,505 Riftwatchers gold foil cards = 190,780 BCX
This means that starting May 13 there will be a sharp decrease in the number of cards that can be used in the Modern Format because over 10 million total cards and over 54 million BCX cannot be used.
If you add to this number the more than 65 million Chaos Legion Soulbound cards in circulation, it is clear that much will change in Modern Format without the Chaos Legion card set.
For the release of previous card sets I have always followed a basic strategy:
- I sold most of my cards before they came out of Modern Format.
- I purchased packs and/or cards that could be used in the Modern Format.
For the release of the Arcana Conclave set I decided to change my strategy:
- I will not sell my strongest Chaos Legion cards in battle.
- I will continue to play in the Modern Format.
- I will use my Chaos Legion cards in the Wild Format where I will use a bot even though I would love to play manually but the Wild Format is the realm of bots and playing manually would be little fun for me.
- I will use the rewards I earn in the Wild Format to build a collection of cards that is competitive again in the Modern Format
Until the end of the current season I will continue to play in the Modern Format with my two accounts (libertycrypto27 and libertygame27).
Starting next season I will play in Modern Format with my main account and play in Wild Format with my curation account for SPT tokens.
In all likelihood the value of Chaos Legion cards will decrease when they can no longer be used in Modern Format, and for this reason today I put some Chaos Legion cards up for sale because when I will play with one account instead of two in Modern Format I will no longer have any use for the Chaos Legion cards I have in duplicate.
For example, today I put 487 level 1 Chaos Legion cards for sale at the lowest price on the market.
On the first day of the Conclave Arcana General Sale I will have only 719 Rebellion cards (unbound + soulbound) to use in the Modern Format compared to the 1415 cards I can use today.
Without my Chaos Legion cards I will hardly be able to achieve the game results I achieve now that I play steadily in Diamond leagues and sometimes even manage to advance in the Champion III league of Mondern Format.
To start building a new and competitive collection of cards in the Modern Format I will wait until the beginning of the General Sale when I can get much more useful information such as:
- the statistics of all Arcana cards
- the estimated value of the Arcana packs
My first season in the Modern Format will be mainly a season of study for me and the Rebellion Reward cards that I rarely use in battle today will become very useful without my Chaos Legion cards.
Therefore, today I decided to accelerate the upgrade of my Rebellion Reward cards by burning all the copies (regular foil and gold foil) of reward cards that I do not use in battle because I have already completed the upgrade to the maximum level.
Today I burned
15 Gold Reward cards and received 55625 GLINT
581 Reward regular cards and I received 41225 GLINT
Today I spent a total of 112500 GLINT to purchase 1 Epic Draw (I only had 1 draw for the first batch) and 3 Legendary Draw
In the epic draw I found Thanalorian Blade
In the 3 legendary draws I found 1 Grifzi and 2 copies of Warborn Chieftain
In the next images you can see my Rebellion Reward cards divided by rarity.
I have completed the upgrade of rare and common reward cards but still have many draws to purchase to complete the upgrade of epic and legendary reward cards.
Today I also stopped renting all my Beta and Untamed cards because I may need them in the Wild Format next season.
I end this post by showing my last battle that I played and won in Modern Format to show the battle strength of some Chaos Legion cards that will no longer be able to be used in this format starting May 13, 2025.
In the next battle there are 13 out of 14 cards that in seven days will no longer be able to be used in the Modern Format

Due giorni dopo la fine della presale, il 13 maggio, inizierà la General Sale che rivoluzionerà il Modern Format perchè le carte Chaos Legion e le carte Riftwatchers usciranno dal Modern Format e potranno essere utilizzate solo nel Wild Format.
Ci sarà una vera e propria rivoluzione nelle dinamiche di gioco e negli equilibri del Modern Format perchè le carte Chaos Legion sono le più numerose in circolazione dato che sono stati aperti 10 milioni e 641 mila pacchi Chaos Legion contenenti 5 carte ognuno.
In base ai dati nella sezione PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION DATA di Splintercards, considerando solo le carte non Soulbound, in circolazione ci sono:
- 8,756,819 carte Chaos Legion regular foil = 48,124,186 BCX

Questo vuol dire che a partire dal 13 maggio ci sarà una forte diminuzione delle carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format perchè non potranno essere utilizzate oltre 10 milioni di carte totali e oltre 54 milioni di BCX.
Se a questo numero aggiungi le oltre 65 milioni di carte Chaos Legion Soulbound in circolazione è evidente che cambierà molto nel Modern Format senza il set Chaos Legion.
Per il rilascio dei precedenti set di carte ho sempre seguito una strategia base:
- ho venduto la maggior parte delle mie carte prima che uscivano dal Modern Format.
- ho acquistato pacchi e/o carte utilizzabili nel Modern Format.
Per il rilascio del set Conclave Arcana ho deciso di cambiare strategia:
- continuerò a giocare nel Modern Format anche se avrò solo 745 carte e 7965 BCX all'inizio della stagione 158.
- utilizzerò le mie carte Chaos Legion nel Wild Format dove userò un bot anche se mi piacerebbe giocare manualmente ma il Wild Format è il regno dei bots e giocare manualmente sarebbe poco divertente per me.
- utilizzerò le ricompense che guadagnerò nel Wild Format per costruirmi una collezione di carte nuovamente competitiva nel Modern Format
Fino alla fine della stagione in corso continuerò a giocare nel Modern Format con i miei due account (libertycrypto27 e libertygame27).
A partire dalla prossima stagione giocherò nel Modern Format con il mio account principale e giocherò nel Wild Format con il mio curation account per i token SPT.
Con molta probabilità il valore delle carte Chaos Legion diminuirà quando non potranno più essere utilizzate nel Modern Format e per questo motivo oggi ho messo in vendita alcune carte Chaos Legion perchè quando giocherò con un solo account nel Wild Format non mi saranno più utili le carte Chaos Legion che ho in doppia copia.
Ad esempio oggi ho messo in vendita 487 carte Chaos Legion di livello 1 al prezzo più basso per BCX presente sul mercato.
Il primo giorno della Conclave Arcana General Sale avrò solo 719 carte Rebellion (unbound + soulbound) da utilizzare nel Modern Format rispetto alle 1415 carte che posso utilizzare oggi.
Senza le mie carte Chaos Legion difficilmente potrò ottenere i risultati di gioco che raggiungo adesso che gioco stabilmente nelle leghe Diamond e qualche volta riesco anche ad avanzare nella lega Champion III del Mondern Format.
Per iniziare a costruirmi una nuova e competitiva collezione di carte nel Modern Format aspetterò l'inizio della General Sale quando potrò avere molte più informazioni utili come:
- le statistiche di tutte le carte Arcana
- il valore stimato dei pacchi Arcana
La mia prima stagione nel Modern Format sarà una stagione principalmente di studio per me e le carte Rebellion Reward che oggi utilizzo raramente in battaglia diventeranno molto utili senza le mie carte Chaos Legion.
Per questo motivo oggi ho deciso di accellerare l'upgrade delle mie carte Reward Rebellion bruciando tutte le copie (regular foil e gold foil) delle carte reward che non utilizzo in battaglia perchè ho già completato l'upgrade al massimo livello.
Oggi ho bruciato
15 carte Reward Gold e ho ricevuto 55625 GLINT
581 carte Reward regular e ho ricevuto 41225 GLINT
Oggi ho speso in totale 112500 GLINT per acquistare 1 Epic Draw (avevo solo 1 draw per il primo batch) e 3 Legendary Draw
Nell'epic draw ho trovato Thanalorian Blade
Nei 3 legendary draw ho trovato 1 Grifzi e 2 copie di Warborn Chieftain
Nelle prossime immagini puoi vedere le mie carte Rebellion Reward divise per rarità.
Ho completato l'upgrade delle carte reward rare e comuni ma ho ancora molti draws da acquistare per completare l'upgrade delle carte reward epiche e leggendarie.
Oggi ho anche interrotto il noleggio di tutte le mie carte Beta e Untamed perchè mi potrebbero servire nella prossima stagione nel Wild Format.
Concludo questo post mostrando la mia ultima battaglia che ho giocato e vinto nel Modern Format per mostrare la forza in battaglia di alcune carte Chaos Legion che non potranno più essere utilizzate in questo formato a partire dal 13 maggio 2025.
Nella prossima battaglia ci sono 13 carte su 14 che tra sette giorni non potranno più essere utilizzate nel Modern Format
Prima di terminare la scrittura di questo post voglio condividere una novità molto molto interessante!

It looks like the pre-sale is selling slowly, but the first day was where the bulk of the sales happened. I am a bit sad to see Chaos Legion go, and I wonder just how well I will fare. I don't think I will rank very high until I buy some new cards (when prices go down).
Yes I also regret that I won't be able to use chaos legion cards in Modern especially because I will be forced to use a bot in Wild.
I will continue to play in Modern even though it will be hard especially in the first few seasons
Waiting for prices to decrease is always a good strategy ;)

You have a decent strategy.. I think some CL cards are underrated and the price they're worth in the market currently doesn't speak much of the value they have. So choosing to play in Wild is also a great idea. For me, I want to consider playing my older cards in survival mode and not selling any of my CL cards because they're very useful to compete in the Guilds.
Your strategy is also a good strategy because in Survival Mode and Guild brawls, Chaos Legion cards will always be important
