REFLECTION TIME: THE TRANSIENT NATURE OF LIFE

Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗

There was a time, some few years ago when I was in the company of friends whom I felt we are going to be inseparable for life due to the closeness and quality time we shared together. The little experiences we created together as a group of friends, the plans for the future that we created together in our corners that we all think we'd actualize together.

But, as always, life is unpredictable. It always have different plans - well sometimes. Each time I reflect on these memories I realize that those faces and voices that were familiar once upon a time have now disappeared into thin air.

Life moves so fast that in a minute you are in a space with someone sharing things in common from meals, laughs, ideas, aspirations etc, and the next minute you discover that you can no longer share those common things together. Why? They have moved to a new location especially another country.

The recent wave of 'Japa' - a term that describes migration to another country in search of greener pastures - has caused so many friends and family members to separate because they want a better life that their country can't offer. With high unemployment rates, stunted growth in career and finance, lack of good health, and security services, many of our friends and family that we grew together have left us. Well, I'm happy that they are making progress in life but a part of me is sorrowful about the separation.

On a more painful note are the ones that we may not set our eyes on anymore because they have been taken away from us by death. 'May the Souls of the Faithful Departed Rest in Peace'. We all have that one friend or relative that we only remember when we see their photographs or we are in a pensive mood just like when im penning down this piece. No wonder there is a popular saying that 'you don't value what you have until you lose it'. The different phases in life pass by so quickly that we don't realize it.

I bet that if we had superpowers we would hold on to our loved ones forever. We would keep them close to us for as long as we can. But on the flip side life often have another plan. Be it through relocation due to marriage, work, change of environment or even the inevitable - death, we'd experience a change.

In all of this reflection it is much more honorable to live a life that is worthy of remembering for good things and not evil actions. No matter the part of the world that your family and friends remember you in their discussion they should be able to make good and positive comments about you. The transient nature of life may not be favourable to you if all people have to say about you are negative things because of your actions. It is better to have a good name than to have so much wealth.

Thank You For Your Time and See You in My Next One.

I wonder if one of the reasons I found myself attracted to living in East Asia is the appreciation for such things. In Japan it’s basically thought that it’s the transience that gives life its beauty. If everything was permanent we couldn’t miss anyone and we couldn’t look forward to anything.

So when a relationship fades or a person leaves it’s easier to focus on the time we had together and appreciate it for what it is.

This is why cherry blossom season is so popular here. The trees are bright pink but only for a few days

Well, I'd agree with you that it is the transience that gives life its beauty. Nevertheless, as a person that phase of transition is somewhat difficult to come to terms with even though we don't always have control over it.

So when a relationship fades or a person leaves it’s easier to focus on the time we had together and appreciate it for what it is.

It is exactly the thought of those memories that makes some of us (sometimes) feel like we can bring back those memories to reality. Unfortunately, we don't always get our wishes.

Cherry Blossom season - I just came across this for the first time and I have looked it up online. I learnt it symbolises life and death, beauty and violence. And the season spans between late March and early April. I will read more about it.
