Sometimes I think about how absurd the direction the world is taking has become. We live in the era of technology and artificial intelligence, and yet one of the most powerful billionaires in Silicon Valley is traveling all the way to Rome to talk about the Antichrist.

I am talking about Peter Thiel, supporter of Trump and the far right, founder of Palantir, one of the companies that develops software used by armies and intelligence agencies to analyze enormous amounts of data, with collaborations with Israel, NATO, and ICE among others. We are therefore talking about a person who built his fortune on the most advanced technology and on Western military power.

Thiel is reportedly going to hold some private conferences dedicated to the figure of the Antichrist. Closed-door events, no phones, no recordings, and invitation only.

The most absurd and surreal part comes when you listen to his interpretation. According to Thiel, the Antichrist would not be a biblical demon but a “false savior” who promises global security to face crises like climate change or technological threats, only to then overpower the free world with a kind of authoritarian world government. And the most absurd part is that in the past he has suggested figures like Greta Thunberg as representations of this Antichrist.

So a billionaire who earns billions selling surveillance and data analysis tools to governments and militaries portrays as a true threat to freedom a girl protesting for the climate?

In 2026, with all the scientific knowledge we have, people with enormous political and economic influence like him still interpret the world in an apocalyptic and religious way and even promote it; a figure like this reasoning in terms of the Antichrist in this way is truly shocking.
