Today I dug deep into the picture archives to get some photos for this weeks Monochrome Monday, the first of the year 2024!

Throwback Monochrome Monday

How is it already 2024?! I know I will be writing that in my posts.. for quite a few days or weeks hahaha, it's true though! I know that time flies faster and faster as we get older, or maybe it's that time flies faster and faster as the world is increasingly connected and moving at lightning speed. It is pretty wild for sure..

Since we've been sick and holed up in the house for the better part of 3 weeks, maybe longer, I've been relegated to pulling from the archives of pictures to get some inspiration for the weekly posts like Monochrome Monday. Thankfully I've got SD cards galore filled with pictures! This is one of the older SD cards, where my wife and I went to Italy many years ago. I grabbed a few great shots and flipped them to black and white.

Italy is one of those beautiful countries for sure. It's well known globally, people from all parts of the world are trying to aspire to travel there or even live there. We thankfully got the chance to travel there and damn was it breathtaking! The cities were indeed beautiful but what was really special was the countryside. The countryside was perhaps my favorite part of it all, the breathtaking views everywhere. I know that we would love to go back one day, though we don't know when exactly but we will certainly try.

We did a few tours and things where they took us away from the cities and took us into the countryside to look at the beautiful wineries and appreciate the nature of the wonderful country. I remember that most of the land here was winery estates, given that it was Tuscany, so not much of it was public land but the cities themselves have areas around it that are public and people grow all kinds of fruit and things on it for people to eat. That's what it's all about, helping your fellow people!

There were obviously vineyards and olive groves everywhere we went! We stopped at two places and it was incredible. The food they served us, the olive oil we were eating, it was unreal. It was nothing like the crap that we've got here in the US, which doesn't surprise me. The US is focused on making its citizens and the people around it, sick and dependent on them. Countries like Italy are more focused on keeping food and things as original as possible, with some modern benefits of course like harvesting techniques and things. The food in Italy was incredible in that it was so fresh and delicious. You could drink wine, eat bread, pasta and pizza and never feel sick of lethargic. You eat any of that in America and you'll be feeling like shit pretty quickly lol.

This was a wonderful trip down memory lane but the black and white nature of the pictures really brought out some special stuff! I loved taking these older photos, photos taken with a less sophisticated digital camera, not a DSLR, and touching them up a little bit with the assistance of GIMP and seeing how it turns out. Cool stuff for sure!
