monomad entry: springtime in black and white
it's springtime and everywhere leaves are sprouting in the the trees and flowers are blooming once again but even though it's green everywhere it's still a good opportunity for black and white photography
there's an ancient stone ship setting at Agnes beside a few majestic oak trees. the ship is believed to be an early viking grave from about 1500 years ago. it's a great place to start a walk through the forest to Lillevik beach
lily of the valley greets us at the edge of the forest and it won't be long before they are all in bloom
there are only a few wood anemones left . April was unusually dry so these lovely flowers are ending their bloom a few weeks before normal. in this shot the flowers are accompanied by a norway maple seedling
the forest floor is mostly dry now but there are parts of the path that can be very muddy so some good samaritans made a boardwalk of old pallets
during the winter new driftwood has washed up on the shore
there's a mist over the water while someone is trying their luck at fishing
while we are searching the beach for newly arrived driftwood
it's a nice shallow cove. in the summer it's popular with locals with small children
some of the driftwood has been here for years. this log is covered in bracket fungi
somebody else fishing on the west side. there's a path leading all the way to Larvik 6 km north
back in the forest the ground is covered with black horsetails in dramatic contrast to the pale fallen trees supported by neighbouring trees
and soon we are back where we started
