Rural Incursions

For the last two months I've been following the event “Há Festa nas Aldeias” [Eg: There's a Party in the Villages], organized by the Linha de Fuga association. This performing arts association produced this initiative with the aim of bringing culture to smaller towns with few inhabitants in rural areas.

It's interesting to see how receptive the locals are to the arts. With fewer academic studies and little access to culture, they manage to have an unfiltered critical power that contributes greatly to the creators.

In three different villages, but very close to each other (Alfafar, Vila Seca and Bruscos. Central Portugal), contemporary dance shows, performances and debates on the Performing Arts took place.

Well, it's not the event that I'm talking about here. It's about the insight I had in these places, the desire to live the last phase of my life in a village.

I've always lived in cities. I've always loved urban life, with cosmopolitan inhabitants or cities in constant population renewal. Big cities offer more professional opportunities, especially for freelancers. However, there are trade-offs. Quality of life is one of them. As we get older, quality of life and diet weigh heavily on our decisions.

Living in peace, in contact with nature, in a small village with few inhabitants, with the possibility of sowing basic products on the land, has become a goal for me.

I think we all seek the same thing: to live in a peaceful place in harmony with the surroundings, and that's the magic of these towns, which remind me of the towns in the state of Mérida, Venezuela. Greetings and good shots!

It's wonderful how the event sparked your desire for village life ✨ Your black and white photography beautifully captures these receptive communities 💖 The contrast between urban opportunities and rural quality of life is a powerful insight ✨
