I'll Be Able to Work Again Soon!!! :)

It's been a week since the flood happened, and we've been able to survive day by day thanks to everyone's support. Many of our friends and family donated stuff and money, so we're able to get some of the basic things we need at our temporary home.

Of course, it was overwhelming, and we were grateful for their help and kindness. However, what I really wanted was to work again. This way, I can earn for the family. We can't always rely on our relatives and friends, even when they're willing to, right?

$1

My male bestie did his best to help me save my CPU. It's still usable, though I'd need to buy a new HDD for it. The other parts were unfortunately unusable except for the camera, so I'd need to buy them as well. So, one problem is having a PC...

$1

Another problem we had was having a stable internet connection. For the past week, we have only been using our phone data, and it has somehow become stable about three days ago. However, I would need a line connection for my job. It's among the requirements. Luckily, my male bestie found this promo online for a temporary prepaid line connection with no contract.

With the donations we received, I decided to invest in this item. It's ideal for our situation because we are only staying here temporarily, and we can transfer this if we ever go back to our old place or go somewhere else afterwards.

I applied on the 11th, and it was installed the next day. And finally, we got a stable line connection.

At first, I planned to use my tablet for my personal classes while saving money for computer parts. However, one of my high school friends told me she'll ask someone she's close with if we can use their credit card, and I'll pay them monthly to purchase a laptop instead, since it's more ideal for our current situation.

Then, this morning, my female bestie who's living in the US sent me a message asking if we still have food to eat. She was among the first people who aided us financially to start over again.

I told her, we're getting by since people around us have been very kind and generous. Then, I also updated her about our internet connection and the plan my high school friend and I came up with. She asked me how much a laptop costs these days, so I told her the price I looked up online, based on the specs I needed for my job.

She told me to wait for a while... and then she sent me the money I needed (again). T_T I literally cried when I received it this morning. Despite what happened, Christmas came early this year! She said it's from her and her husband. <3 They're indeed among the kindest and most generous people I know.

Despite still having asthma, I went out with Papa to buy a laptop today.

$1

I really can't thank them enough. They have saved my family and me many times already, and I'll be forever grateful to them. There's still some money left after buying the laptop, so I decided to get other things I'll need for work.

$1

I don't have my own room here, unlike in our house, so I decided to utilize the small space under the stairs by the dining table. It's a little dark and hot, so I bought this fan with a light to brighten it up and make it more comfortable.

$1

The Bluetooth mouse and mouse pad were freebies, but I also bought this USB-to-Ethernet adapter, along with an Ethernet cable to connect to the modem. Our school requires a line connection, so it's a must-have.

$1

I also needed a new noise-reduction/cancelling headset. My old one didn't survive, and it was also for a desktop, so it had an earphone jack. That small corner in our temporary home is the quietest space. Our location is near SRP (South Road Properties), so it's like an expressway... and a lot of vehicles pass by here all the time.

$1

That small space below the stairs will be my temporary office in the coming days. We're lucky the old owner left this dining table here so that I could use it for work. Our landlord also allowed us to use the space downstairs for cooking, eating, and so on.

I don't know how long we're staying here... maybe until our old house is fixed, or until the renovation of this house is finished and someone buys it. We're also having talks about living elsewhere, especially because my mom doesn't feel safe in our previous place anymore. But we'll see where life takes us.

For now, I'll have to recover from my asthma first... and hopefully by this weekend, I can start working again! :)

I'm indeed very grateful for all the blessings we received from relatives and friends, as well as people from various communities on HIVE and my Snaps friends who helped me and encouraged me a lot. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! <3

I'll end this post here. Thanks for reading, and see you around! (^^,)/

Where do you live? If you live in Talisay, you are very close to my hometown. Here, we are all safe. We just feel bad that a lot of people out there have gone through the flood. I hope your family is well.

I am happy to see that you have a very supportive family and a friend out there who is really eager to help out. I couldn't imagine going through what you are going through. Just like you, I am also working online, and the computer is the most important thing!

Nobody expected at that time that the storm was going to be that massive. I didn't expect it to because prior to that, we had Odette, and we were able to survive that. This one was just on so many levels, not what I expected. It was quite unpredictable because we were expecting the typhoon to hit more of the northern part, but for some reason, it really caused damages to our area too.

It's sad to think that a lot of the misfortunes that happened recently are because of our human intervention and the lack of responsibility by the government. I know for a fact that if you are someone who is resilient, you don't just blame anyone for the problems... you start to bounce back.

I am really proud of you for being able to bounce back and get back to "work mode". It's not that easy, especially for someone like me who gets swayed by emotional problems most of the time. So, I wish you and your family the best. We Hivers are all glad that everyone is safe!

Thank you so much for your kind words. And you're right, I'm from Talisay. My family and I are all safe. I was only with my mom and our two dogs when it happened since my dad was stranded in his hometown. I had to prioritize them, so I couldn't save anything.

We survived Odette, so nobody really expected things like this to happen, since it's much weaker. And we didn't have to worry about falling rees because they're all uprooted during Odette. hahah

Of course there are reasons why it happened, but just blaming them won't do us any good. We chose to move on, and we're indeed lucky to have family and friends who are always ready to help.

I guess I've been through a lot in life to be emotional... hahaha
Thanks again and have a good one! 😁💙✨

That's a very good disposition, and I am glad that you're okay! Just days ago, I saw this video where there was a storm surge, and the guys were running towards the shore because there was a huge wave behind them, but they were all laughing. It kind of reminds me of our resilience and humor as Filipinos. I am proud of it!

During the Odette, we had a lot of struggle with the internet, water, and everything. We were able to survive that, and after Odette, the scare of the COVID pandemic did not matter to us anymore because Odette was a major thing! This means that what doesn't break us makes us stronger.

I'm glad that you are still able to laugh and appreciate the things that you have, even after losing a few things that used to matter. We are proud of you here on Hive for that.

Don't worry, everything's going to be okay. We are basically just neighbors, so I understand how you feel about Tino! :)) I just followed you, and I look forward to reading more of your journeys and how you're able to bounce back after this massive thing that just happened to you this year.

Filipinos are "too" resilient at times, but I just hope we won't face challenges that would require us to be. I love Filipino humor, though.

If you play MLBB, there were a lot of jokes and memes about Odette that time. It was hilarious. 😂 And true, people kind of forgot about COVID when Odette happened. We level up every time! 😁✨

We can't do much about the things we've already lost, so we have to cherish what we still have and will have. 😁

Thanks... I followed you back, so I'll see you around! 💓😊

I completely understand what you meant there when you said "being too resilient." Usahay, we get to the point where we become too compliant and no longer fight for the things we deserve! We just let things be.

Good job sa Filipino spirit for our humor and outlook on life. I hope that it gets better soon, especially since we deserve a better way of living.

During this typhoon, we stocked up a lot and really made our preparations at home. Still, a lot of things happened that were not supposed to happen because of the lack of care for nature and the environment.

Thank you for following back, and yes, I hope to see more of your posts too!

Yep... we tend to accept things as they are too easily at times. xD
The way mother nature works is unpredictable.
You're welcome... :)
