Scamming A Scammer

It's not often that I get inquiries about the cakes I sell, that's why receiving one makes me happy especially on a regular day when I am not running ads. Little did I know I was already talking with a scammer.

Have you encountered speaking to one?

It was the night of Lunar New Year. I was tired yet I've decided to clean some of my things including the floor of my room when I got a message from a user named Sharon Karen. She's inquiring about the cake on my latest post.

I was excited that finally I'm having an order with my koi-shaped jelly cake.

She then asked me if I can ship it to her address. Guess where she lives.

Lmao. Who in their right mind would have a cake shipped from another country?

I was contemplating whether to ignore or play with the scammer. And as you can see, the devil's whisper won.

I knew I was indeed talking with a scammer when it repeatedly ask me for my PayPal address.

This 'customer' is more interested of knowing my PayPal address than settling the details of her order nor how to ensure the cake wouldn't get damaged during transit. It's me asking for the other details instead. The intention of this person I'm speaking to on the other end is very obvious.

Customer also didn't protest even though I faked and put a high price on the total cost. (Wish it was a real customer. Lol.)

Well, it's been years since I've used PayPal. It may be empty, of course, I still wouldn't give my PayPal address.

A scammer deserves to be scammed.

Obviously, scammer-san can't find the made up address. I tried to catch her and asked for a screenshot but continued to make excuses, not even sending a screenshot of the failed transaction.

She said in the beginning that she had made a payment and even told me to check the confirmation e-mail. Oh, really? How did the transaction went through when the address given was just made up?

Scammer-san now asked for another address when the address I gave was getting cancelled. What an unusual 'customer'.

I then told her to just find someone in her country who makes the same cake. I was waiting what excuse would she give but she stopped after that message.

Come on, scammer-san, keep me entertained! Lol.

Her name alone already screams red flag. Sharon and Karen are names I often hear and read on memes.

Anyway, be very vigilant and discerning when speaking with strangers even if they are your potential customer. Don't be afraid, as long as you're not giving your personal information, there's nothing to worry about. It's best to ignore them but can be of use sometimes for some entertainment!
