My First Grocery Shopping of the Year and Saving More Than Expected

Grocery shopping is an exhausting yet therapeutic task for me. (But only if there are only few people shopping!) Aside from it, shopping is kind of an exercise as well because you walk around while pushing a heavy cart.

One thing that I like shopping alone is the freedom to roam around and walk at your own pace. You also have all the time to shop! Unlike shopping with my brother, I was able to shop slowly and spent around an hour and a half. However, I was still able to miss to purchase tomato sauce for Giniling! Lol!

Of course, shopping wouldn't be possible without money to purchase. First thing I do is withdraw cash. The machine ran out of paper to print the receipt so I took a photo instead when I checked the balance.

I headed to the grocery next and there you go. As you can see, I bought eggs, vegetables, fruits, and meats. So don't judge that I only shop junk foods. Haha!

It's surprising that some of the shelves, especially, on the chips section were almost empty. I wasn't able to get the chips I usually buy and had to look for alternatives.

And after getting all the stuff I need, here's my cart. It was less compared to the previous months because I still have some stocks left. However, I bought rice this time. I placed it on the space under the cart. I always shop for rice last because it makes the cart heavy making it difficult to push around.

I also didn't buy bathroom tissue at the grocery because the brand I like is always unavailable. I bought it online instead and it's cheaper if you buy it directly from the store. Plus, there are vouchers to get a discount as well. This pack already contains 10 rolls. It's a lot for me so I won't be purchasing tissue for a few months.

After shopping I was tempted to purchase something at the food court but I remembered that I still have some few slices of pizza left.

While counting the cash left after shopping, I was amazed that I was able to save a lot this time. That's because I bought enough stocks last month that some could last until this month. The amount I spent was more than a thousand cheaper than I usually spend. And I think that's a win for me!

With the prices of goods getting expensive each time, being able to save no matter how much is already a blessing. However, I can see that I will be spending more again on February but I'm more motivated to save now. :)

Shopping alone really lets you go at your own pace, but yes it can be tiring too. Hehe missing the tomato sauce for Giniling is so relatable, I like how you plan your cart with heavy items last, that’s smart idea.

Hehe our memories really get weak as we age. Lol.
Thank you. Getting the heavy items last also saves your energy.

I haven't done my grocery this time of the year but planning to go to the grocery because there were now a few groceries left at the place where I live. I'm glad to stumble about your post and maybe one of these days, I will take time to go to the grocery store. !wine

It's peaceful when you're the only one buying, but sometimes you feel like you want to have someone to talk to and that's when you forget what else you're going to buy hahaha. It's also a good choice to buy online because you can really get a cheaper price, hehe
