Decluttering and Bidding Goodbye to My Old Cute Heels, and Frying Milkfish Just Right!
Happy Sunday! Is everyone ready for another week? Ugh. Lol.
While Sunday is supposed to be a rest day for me, I was called to declutter some old shoes in our garage. Yikes!

Yesterday morning, I heard my father moving stuff in our garage and when I went out to check, I saw some of my mother's files laid on the floor in our laundry area. I looked closer and saw that these were some blueprints and electric bill receipts. I had a bad feeling this pile and rolls of papers would get discarded. I was supposed to check the papers in the afternoon but forgot about it.
This morning, I went out to check and saw my father carrying the papers to throw it. I stopped him and got the files I have to keep. And since I was already there, he instructed me to check the boxes of old shoes in the garage.
Most shoes were my mine and some were my mother's. Most of the shoes were from high school and there were some that I used in college. I'll share some of them here with a short background story.

This "glass" purple shoes with purple sequin ribbon was used during my senior prom and high school graduation. I liked this a lot because the heel isn't that high and it's simple, cute, and looks fancy. The daughter of the school director even noticed it and said it looks cute when I went up the stage during the graduation. Lol.
The thick plastic part of the shoes used to be clear and due to many years of being unused, the plastic got discolored and cloudy.

Since it's my favorite heels, I kept the ribbons. Lol.

Next is my first ever heels! I remember seeing this on the display and I immediately knew it was the shoes I wanted to wear for my junior prom. It was beautiful and I liked the color a lot! The silver chains and glass beads made the shoes look fancy and sophisticated. The heel is thin but I managed not to stumble on our cotillion dance.
This shoes can still be good to use. If my father would give it someone with a daughter who needs it, they could just remove the discolored plastic under the silver chains and cleans the dirt on the fabric. I think I was only able to use this twice.

Then I also have this espadrille wedge heels. This was an impulse purchase during my early years in college. It looked chic and espadrille shoes were popular back then so I bought it. Lol. I liked this too but I was careful and only worn it on certain occasions because it's made of fabric. It might catch dirt easily and cleaning it could be difficult.

While this shoes looks fashionable and looks good on my feet, the heels were too high! It feels like I would break my ankle if I'm not careful with my step.
I tried cleaning it before and regretted using bleach to clean the white parts on the stripes. There's a white patch on one side of the shoe and I no longer wore it after messing the fabric.

Last is my college graduation shoes. I learned from my past heels and got one with a thicker sole. Well, it was comfortable! It's just sad that the the 'leather' flakes off and becomes crunchy after some years.
These shoes were very sentimental to me as they were part of some of my most special occasions during my teenage and student years. But they are now old and taking space accumulating dirt in the garage so I have to let them go. The high heel tips were also crumbled but could be changed.
Back in the day, these heels were kind of expensive and looking at it right now made me regret a little on the money spent on it and the few times I've only worn it. Well, just a little because somehow I still have no regrets buying them. My younger self was happy for experiencing wearing such nice and cute heels. And that's also important. However, if I were to buy heels again in the future for certain occasion/s, I would be wise to choose one shoe that is fit for any event.

Moving on, I think I finally fried the milkfish perfectly this time because I didn't burn the garlic like a charcoal. Lol. It's just experimental though. I still have to find the exact duration and heat to make the output consistent. I start with medium heat then bring down to low after 4 or 5 minutes so the oil won't be splattering a lot when I take it out of the pan.

I also paired the fried fish with a soup which I experimented and liked! Recipe to be posted soon! :)
And that sums up my sunday. There are more shoes to declutter in the laundry area. I'll take care of it next time.
It's difficult to let go of things that hold important memories but sometimes we have to let it go and make use of that space for a better purpose.
So, goodbye shoes and thank you for making my younger self happy and making those occasions memorable for her! :)

Letting go of things that were important to us at different points in our lives can indeed be challenging, but it's such an incredibly good thing to do, and often. Your fried fish and soup looks great, and I also experiment very successfully with various kinds of foods. It's fun for me. Congrats on cooking your fish well.😁🙏💚✨🤙
That's true and life feels so much lighter with less things around.
Thank you! It's a rewarding feeling to experiment foods and end up tasting good! 😄
Exactly, every time that I've moved, I've let go of more and more stuff, until now, I have very few items, and only what is important. You're very welcome, absolutely! I very much agree, and I do it all the time, and it almost always comes out amazing! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Are they broke because not used in a long time??

I'm not purchasing one soon. hehe I still have one left which I bought 3 years ago and only wore once.
Yes, the black rubber at the end of the heel and the leather got destroyed due to time.
maybe it's time for your wife to have a new pair of heels. :)
already did and i always ask her to wear at least once in a month but she refuse since she is not like wearing heels at all. She will wearing when there is formal event at school which is maybe just twice or thrice each year
Oh that's alright if she would wear it twice or thrice a year. Maybe she want to preserve the quality of the shoes until she wears them on the formal events. 😁
Good luck with the second round of decluttering. 😂
Fish looking amazing and we'll cooked. Yummy 😋
Wish you a great week ahead, @straykat.
