Sound Of Home: Our Old Door Chime and My Good and Bad Memories With It
There are certain sounds at home that I hated at first but when I get used to it, it become like a background music while i'm doing daily task. They become bearable and they're a sound of home now. Like when im not at home, there's this side of me that look for those certain sounds. Is it just? We just miss it no? And we'll realize how we become too accustomed to those sounds that we thought we'll forever hate it.

We have this old door chime that was hang in our main door. It's the door connecting to the kitchen, it's the door that will lead us to Mommy D's sari-sari store. I can't really remember when Mom bought this thing, i just noticed it one day when it started to make a sound. A sound with no right tune but still comforting to the ears. There are times that I got so annoyed by it though especially during my afternoon nap time. I don't do this now though.
It's just that, I will wake up with the sound of it. But right now, it only brought a nostalgia. I had good and annoying memories with it, but without those memories, then life would be too boring no? In some ways this thing become a sign too. Whenever someone will walk by in that door, it will make a sound because it can reach even my 4'9 ft oldies head. Lol. And with the wind passing by every minute, it will create a sound and for us who's used to it already, it is a sound of Home.
Another sound that i can still hate no natter how used I am to is was Our dogs barking. They bark with just any sound, they are the loudest when they noticed people in the river near our house. No one can really stop them if they heard sounds. But what's good having them and being alert like that is like we felt more secure. I remember when we experienced an earthquake last month, it's 4.7 magnitude earthquake. The dogs bark loudly as they can as if waking up every people living nearby. Their barking maybe annoying at times but we're glad to have them in our lives.
Now let me share the most annoying sounds for me, the one that I can't just like and will never get use to no matter what. It's the sound of a vehicles especially motorcycle which is the loudest. Special mention to those mayayabang who love to show off their loud engines. Some even do it at night, when it's really quiete. So when they suddenly make a sound we'll really get startled especially my oldies. And they drive it like they are the kind of the road. And when they got into an accident they were like "we're knocking on your heart..." Pweee! They are the worst and they just love to make the worst sound.
We actually experience another one last night but it's not a motorcycle this time, it's an owner type jeep. It's from the house in front of house. They said they are just testing the jeep because someone will buy it today. Like, they can do it a lil earlier no? Not at 8:30 pm, ny oldies sleep time. Mom really got mad and decided to go outside. She didn't show her annoyance though and asked the owner politely if they can just do it tomorrow morning, not just that time because Mom is already experiencing a headache because of it. Fortunately, he is a reasonable man and stop testing his jeep. Mom get back to sleep after. (^._.^)ﾉ
I can relate to the vehicle specially the motorcycle! Those kamote is kamoteying at the road in the midnight 😂

Hahaha 😂 those sounds can be annoying at times but there’s nothing we can do to them, especially the barking of dogs, sounds of cars and motorcycles passing by which would make one startle unexpectedly.

Some sounds at home, like your door chime or dogs barking. I really grow on you and make the place feel like home. And yes, loud motorcycles at nigh are so annoying1

The sound of dogs barking, motorcycles, and old doorbells are all joyful to me. But when dogs bark at night, fear prevails.

We are on the same boat. I hate the sound of motorbikes with loud engines. Our house is along the main road, which is why it is so irritating to hear them at the wee hours when you are sleeping soundly. You're lucky they pass by at 8:30pm. Here they make an irritating sound at 2am, waking my mother up.
Omg, in the middle if the night while sleeping soundly? Oh gosh, that's worse! Why not do it in day time not in sleeping hours (〒﹏〒)
They race at night because the Highway Patrol Group catches motorbikes that have their exhausts removed. Usually, teenagers race. We live along the highway so you can hear the noise of the cars. The young people hang out on the other side of the road opposite where we live. Imagine, they race from 12pm to 2am when it's nice to sleep. Sometimes my mother gets startled, she suddenly stands up and starts talking. She's already 90 years old. The town councilors and barangay officials don't do anything because they're their friends.
Every time out dog bark at night it's making me frightened. Thinking maybe someone lurking around. Ayaw KO din na laging tumatahol SA wala Naman.😬
Haha, those are annoying sounds except for the chime for me. We have had that before. I love the soothing sound of it. I agree with you, it's a sound of home.
That owner jeep test at 8:30 pm was too much my ears filed a complaint on their own :).
Late night engine revs feel like jump scares, not the soundtrack anyone wants for oldies trying to sleep.

Funny how a wonky door chime can be the cozy sound of home' but those loud showoff engines are never it.
Same with our dogs! Their nonstop barking drives us crazy, but it’s also the best alarm system.

The last i heard this sound when my grandma still alive and her house will be sold after she passed away. Kinda afraid after sun goes down especially when wind breeze to hard.
Imagine Old House, creepy sound, wind blowing hard, dog howling, and grass friction.
My imagination is always think about ghost and something like that supernatural
