Our Homeschool Activities

Ever since we started homeschooling, I personally chose the lessons and activities for our children. Of course with the guide of our homeschool provider. We are new with this kind of set up but we are enjoying it.

For the first quarter, we spent days outdoors to let them experience nature first hand.

We also took them to a museum and art exhibits.

This way they're not always confined to the four corners of our home. 😁 It is a way of letting them see the real world. Before we shifted to homeschooling, we're already doing the above mentioned activities whenever it is school breaks. Now, we can do it whenever budget allows and my husband is on day off or on leave. No need to wait for school break. 😁

While at home, they have learned to prepare meals. Cooked what they like to eat with the available ingredients in the kitchen.

The photos below were prepared by them with a little supervision from me. I made sure they are safe while using the stove.

You will be amazed what a 13 , 11 and 9 year olds can do when they had the freedom to let their creative minds work in preparing a meal. See the results! These are just a few of their creations.

We also did gardening and still doing it. They have learned to value the plants and how it helps our environment and our physical well-being.

Of course we can't omit written activities and lessons for other subjects like Math, English, Filipino and others.

They are also learning to play musical instruments. Our eldest daughter's been playing the piano since age 7. Now the three of them are learning to play songs using the ukulele. I used to play the uke in my grade school years. Now I'm teaching my girls to play it too.

As their teacher, I am also learning and reseaching for ways on how to impart knowledge and skills to our children. I have also learn new stuff along with them.

We still have so much to learn and discover. I am grateful for the resources online and everywhere. We are nurturing our love for books, especially living books.

Our homeschooling journey is a work in progress. Are you homeschooling too? I would love to hear tips from you. ☺️

Thank you for reaching this far. Until next time!

xoxo,

Met

I like how you're making homeschooling not just about academics but also about real life skills creativity and family bonding. Your kids is blessed to learn hands on activities.

Teaching then the basic, cooking and more will surely help them a lot as they become adult. That's really how it should be aside from teaching academic stuffs. And when they decided to be independent, you won't worry much about them because they know the very basic in life. That's just awesome. I remember when I was still at their age, I was too mad to receive such teachings from my oldies. But look at me now, I am actually thankful that they teach me those things ✨☺️

It is important for them to learn life skills so that when the time comes, they are prepared to meet life's challenges.

Thank you sis.

You’re nurturing not just their academic skills but also practical life skills like cooking, gardening, and music. It’s beautiful that you’re learning alongside them too, that’s what makes homeschooling so special, the shared growth and discovery.
