My Colorful and Meaningful Day at the Pride Month Event.
Hello everyone! It's me again leyzel. I want to share to you guys a something very special event I attended. This happened last month June, Pride Month. I joined the celebration not just a visitor, but as an "ate" older sister of someone who is a part of LGBTQ+ community. It was my first time attending to a pride event, and I'm so glad i did. It was one of the most heartwarming and fun experience I've had.
When we arrive at the venue, it was full of colors. People were dancing, waiving their rainbow flags and smiling with pride. While i looked around there were so many people at the plaza, everyone gathered there to celebrate equality, identity and acceptance. Everyone was welcomed, no judgement, just acceptance and fun.
As we joined the parade, I felt so proud walking beside my LGBTQ+ sibling and his friends. I saw joy in their faces and it made my heart happy too. For once they were in the space where they did'nt have to hide who they are, and i got to witness it with everyone.
A few people shared their personal stories on how they come out, the struggles they faced and how they learned to love themselves. Some stories were happy, and others were painful. Many spoke about their experience in bullying, rejection and the fear of not being accepted by their own families and even the society. Listening to them made me realize how brave they are facing those problems like nothing. Like we can't see it in their faces that they were struggling inside because, we know them that they bring happiness in the group, they are always laughing, cracking jokes and always positive. It made me realize how lucky my sibling is to be loved, and how important it is for people like me as an ate to be present and supportive.
Being at that Pride event made me feel hopeful. Yes, there's still hate in this world but, there is also so much love and we all know that love always wins.
I am proud that I went to that event . Not only did I support my sibling, but also I saw how important it is to stand beside those people who are often pushed away by the society. Pride Month is not just a about celebration. It is also about courage, acceptance, and love.
To all other ates , kuyas, moms, dads, and friends out there. Your support means more than you know. Stand with your love ones. Walk with them. Celebrate with them.
Always remember that whether you're part of the LGBTQ+ community or a family member like me, your voice matters. Lets continue spreading kindness and respect. Not just in june but everyday.
Thankyou for reading. Happy Pride Everyone!!
