Ginisang Bunga ng Malunggay (Moringa Pods), Kalabasa(Squash) and Okra a Healthy Veggie Meal
Hello! How are you? It has been a while since we ate bunga ng malunggay, and our malungggay tree is starting to grow pods. and my father is the one who harvests and prepares it for me.
When we still in our father side we don't have this kind of tree so after we permanently stayed on my mom side my grandmas have tree that they grow years past and they're the one who introduce me this dish and I hope they're proud of me that I can cook meals that they make us before.
Ingredients I Used:
- 5 Bunga ng Malunggay (Moringa Pods)
- Half Kalabasa (Squash)
- Half cup Patani(Lima Beans)
- Half cup Kadyos (Pigeons Pea)
- 7 Okra
- 2 tbsp Cooking Oil
- 3 Green Chilis
- 1 Chicken Broth Cube
- 2 tbsp Bagoong (Fish Paste)
- 4 Tomatoes
- 5 Garlic
- 1 Red Onion
- 1 Ginger
- Meat
- 250 ml Water
Let's Cook!
Then, when the water started boiling, I added the meat to the pan with boiling water to tenderize or to cook the meat more.
When the water nearly evaporated, I added 2 tablespoon of cooking oil.
I let it cook until crispy.
After the meat was cooked, I added the aromatics like garlic, red onion, and ginger and let it sautee until aroma.
When browning starts appearing in the aromatics, it is good.
I then added the cut tomatoes.
Let the tomatoes cook until the texture is soft.
After that, I added 2 tablespoons of Bagoong (Fish Paste). Let that bagoong be cooked for about 30 seconds to remove the fishiness.
After that, I added a chicken broth cube as an extra seasoning to the dish.
Then, after that, I added 250 ml of water.
When it started boiling, I added the patani at kadyos beans.
Then I start adding the veggies bunga ng malunggay(moringa pods) and kalabasa (squash) first.
Next is okra and green chili.
It is ready to be plated.
Happy Eating, everyone!

My mama used to make this but without the okra and beans. Akala ko edamame na ung isa sa ingredients. Hahaha
Oo ate pwede din siyang bunga lang tapos kamote para malapot yung sabaw. Parang hawig ate or yan talaga hahaha
Ooh pwede din pala kamote. Baka yan nga, local version ng edamame. Haha

Wow! we have malunggay but we never cooked this way.
Try it its good 😁
Malunggay or moringa simple yet nutritious vegetable. This is a yummy dish that we can easily follow and prepare at home. If one has a garden, other vegetables can be added too but these three are commonly used or combined together. When I was a kid and got wounded or had scratches, my father would mash the moringa leaves a bit then dabbed on the wounded part so it would dry out and heal faster.
Oh! I only knew and saw a recipe with malunggay fruit. So it's really true it's edible. We have lots of malunggay fruit in my hometown but we don't know how to cook it so we just let it dry and turn seeds. We only eat the malunggay flowers
