This is our favorite dish:Ginataang Dahon ng kamoteng kahoy O( Cassava leaves in Coconut Milk)
Hello fellow hivers, for today's blog, I'm going to teach you, or show you, how to cook cassava leaves.
Here in our place, we eat cassava leaves as a dish. Have you guys tried cooking this? It's really delicious, once you taste it, you'll want to cook it again and again.
My husband woke up early this morning and picked some cassava leaves because it's his favorite dish. He said he was going back to work in Iloilo City, so he woke up early and picked some. When I woke up, they were already on our table. He told me to cook it because he missed eating it.
So, I quickly shredded the leaves and cut them into small pieces.
We call this "Ginataang Dahon ng Kamoteng Kahoy" (Cassava Leaves in Coconut Milk).
Here's the procedure on how to cook it:
First: Get the leaves from their stems and then slice them into small pieces like this.
Second: After slicing, boil them for 5 to 10 minutes until they soften.
Third: Once the leaves have softened, we need to remove them from the pot and place them in a strainer, then pour cold water on them to cool them down. After that, squeeze them to remove the excess liquid.
Fourth: Prepare the ingredients: onions, garlic, coconut milk, salt, and magic sarap.
Fifth: After that, place the pot on the stove and let it heat up. Once it's hot, add the second squeeze of coconut milk, then add the sliced garlic and onions, and the lemongrass. When it boils, add the cassava leaves and wait for the dish to dry.
Last: When the dish is dry, add the first squeeze of coconut milk, then add salt and magic sarap. Wait for it to dry and then it's ready to eat.
Try it, guys, it's really delicious, I promise.
I eat cassava, like balanghoy or suman, I really don't know that the leaves can be eaten too. Now I know thank you for sharing. Elders said if the cassava not cooked properly, it could be poisonous.
