Orange Garlic Chicken

Hello everyone!!

Have a great and wonderful weekend to you all...πŸ₯°

We usually have a longer time bonding with each other on weekends because it's my daughter's time to rest from her work, although not every weekend. After all, sometimes she still works, but mostly she has a longer break to bond with us. And during the weekend, I usually prepare some special food like dessert and main dishes specially for my daughter to enjoy after a long time of work.

I am glad that she paused from work today. 😊

She had a great and joyful time singing along with her papa in karaoke while I was cooking our dish. She also helped me in preparing the dish from time to time, like slicing some ingredients and mostly taking some of the photos.

Well, I prepared and cooked a little special dish today. It's "Orange Garlic Chicken". I've seen a lot of versions of this recipe on social media, and I got interested. So, here's my version of orange chicken, but since we all love garlic in chicken, my version is "orange garlic chicken".

Here's how I did it... let's go and take a look at it.

Orange Garlic Chicken

INGREDIENTS:

  • Chicken Fillet
  • Orange (fresh fruit)
  • Egg
  • Garlic
  • Ginger
  • Onion
  • Orange zest
  • Spring Onion (Optional because I just use it for decorations)
  • Pineapple Orange Juice
  • Soy Sauce
  • Paprika
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Chicken Cube
  • Cornstarch
  • Flour
  • Salt
  • Honey
  • Canola Oil
  • Water

PREPARATION:

Wash the chicken thoroughly. Cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside.

Wash and peel the ginger, and then grate it.
Crush and peel the garlic and then mince them.
Wash and peel the onion, then cut it into small pieces.
Wash the orange well and grate some of the zest.
Wash the spring onion thoroughly, cut some of it, and make a design to decorate the cooked dish.

Now let's marinate the chicken:

❀
Transfer the bite-sized cut chicken into a bigger bowl and then add 1 tbsp paprika powder, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1 1/2 tbsp of soy sauce, and then mix them well.

Then add the grated ginger, minced garlic, and grated orange zest, 2 tbsp of flour, 2 tbsp of cornstarch, and 1 pc large egg. Mix them thoroughly until well combined. Cover the bowl and set aside for about 20 to 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, let's start cooking.

COOKING TIME:

)
)

Heat some canola oil in a pan or cooker and fry the marinated bite-sized chicken fillet until they are all finished. Then set aside.

)

❀

Again, heat a small amount of canola oil in a pan and then sautΓ© onions and garlic until aromatic. Then add the sauce and let it simmer for a few seconds. (I already prepared the sauce with the remaining marinade from the chicken.)

These are some mixtures of fresh orange juice, Del Monte pineapple orange juice, a pinch of salt, and soy sauce.

)
)

❀
When it starts to simmer, add the chicken cube, and stir the sauce until the chicken cube dissolves. Then add a little slurry.

)
)

❀

Continue stirring for another few seconds and then add the chicken. Mix them well, carefully, and then continue cooking for a few minutes or until the sauce reduces and thickens.

Then add a few drops of honey to make it more savory. (Some use sugar instead of honey. I chose the healthier option.)

)
)

❀

And there it is... our orange garlic chicken is ready to serve while it's hot.

❀

Transfer it into a serving dish and add some decorations to make it more appealing and appetizing. It really tastes good. The chicken is still a bit crispy and juicy, and the sauce is really savory. Another happy weekend meal for the family.

I'll just end my post here, and I hope you like this kind of dish too.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and God bless... πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ’–
