February Hive Garden Journal

Time to go to hibernate mood.

February is the time to relax and enjoy the final episode of nature's gift in a year as our summer starts from late February. Even though it's spring, we barely feel the coolness except in the morning. This is the time I plan to preserve some mother plants for the next season and it was a pleasant surprise to see her coming with a cool fruit juice to boost my energy level, after working for couple of hours. She is always ahead of me in these matters - very caring and compassionate, often giving me surprise.

This purple Chrysanthemum plant is added to my garden for the first time because both me and my daughter love the purple color. So I wanted to preserve one plant for next season, so that I can build some saplings in August.

The plants will be left to grow in next six months, without any flower and late august, they will be used - it not only saves me a lot, but I have seen my saplings are much better and well grown than the ones in Nursery.

She always wished, we have our own home with some open space like this where we could grow as we wish, but hey, be happy with what we can. In this big society of hundred families, we are the only family, engaged in gardening - isn't that a big achievement and satisfaction !! May be some day we will have a bigger space and do as we wish, but it's always better to live in the present and utilize what we have, to the best of our abilities. All these experience and learning will come handy, for sure.

That purple chrysanthemum is stunning. It must feel special growing something new that both you and your daughter love.

Love seeing the head start on spring that you guys get. While it is still cold here and you get that summer warmth while we are still under snow, i suppose our more moderate summer heat is enviable.

Love seeing the jungle of flowers you have set up for planting this year. My mums and other flowers are still buried beneath the snow and we are just planning our seeds for planting now.

Looking forward to following your garden adventure again this summer old friend.

Aw, your wife is great. I always think I'm doing really well as a wife if I bring Jamie a cold sarsparilla when he's busy being my slave, I mean doing work in the garden he he.

Enjoy a well earned rest as everyone in the north of the globe shakes off the snow and gets planting!
