Does your partner/family get involved in gardening?

Sometimes she gives me good surprises and provides full support.

20250412_094035.jpg

This was the last reorg of the garden - this year I am not very concerned about the grow in the summer. The very first reason is the location of my plants now, they are lying abandoned in a corner, and not even visible from outside. Even though, its a blessings in disguise for summer, regular thunder storms in summer are another bottleneck, about which I barely can do anything.

20250420_112955.jpg

Still I have done my part, planting some all seasoned incas and taking care - I always believe in doing our duty. Earlier I used to think a lot, but this year, I somehow don't have that same aggression - I hope you get what I am trying to tell.

20250412_101551.jpg

There were few last pots having Chrysanthemums plants, and I tried to create few more mother plants out of them. In this scorching heat it was difficult to do this, but given that, this would be last work of this summer, I was determined to do it, else it was pinching me inside. Suddenly she came with a nice home made juice giving me a surprise - cool and refreshing that felt like nectar. I wished, there was someone who could take our photos, but it was 11.30 am and by that time nobody is seen outside - you can imagine the situation . She loves plants and what I grow, and is very supportive of that - when these plants were on the roof top, she used to come regularly. And she is pretty good in counseling providing mental support - when I was very angry about the society's decision to convert this area to a playground, she kept counseling me - don't worry, something will come out. God will always give you a path seeing your love for plants. So at one point, I almost gave up but it's only because of her, I am still running it in a survival mode.

20250420_113020.jpg

So next 3-4 months, you won't see much update on this garden, I will try to grow these Chrysanthemums plants, so that by August, we can create saplings from them. You have seen the garden last season, so I have created couple of each color / variety, and if things go well, then they will suffice for next season.

20250420_113009.jpg

Yesterday's thunderstorm did damage to these grown plants, so not much expectation there.

20250418_093543.jpg

Imagine what was the time ? The entire scene gets changed in 10-15 minutes.

20250420_113056.jpg

We managed to replant these two in the ground, after taking from the circular patch.

20250417_130411.jpg

20250417_130452.jpg

I keep growing these curry leaves plant, even knowing that people take them. This place is even not visible in the CC TV that I fitted ( I will share that fun soon). You can't change people's behavior, so better to change ourselves. I have planted two more curry leave saplings in two big rescued containers, we will see them once they grow.

20250330_111630.jpg

20250420_113104.jpg

Plants brought from my native in exchange program - seems they have survived. Once they start growing, I will build more clones.

So with this, I must say that you won't see much garden posts for next 3-4 months, hopefully next season, we will move to the other side park - the society wants me to take charge - but I know it's in their best interest.

It was a real shame they had to move all your plants to make way for the playground.

Your wife was right, and this new place for your plants has appeared. You just have to wait for the change of season.

It's great that you have your wife's support; that's an extra motivation.

I have no doubt you'll have a beautiful garden again.

Have a wonderful Sunday, dear friend @sanjeevm

Your garden looks very nice. I have been competing with you for a long time, you are very good at this. Extreme heat and drought are very damaging to nature. They were not affected by the extreme heat, the plants are lush green.

Oh, that's nice. A week ago, we also started planting the field. For the first time, we started with permaculture.

Permaculture is very rewarding, once established. Even I thought about it, but it needs a permanent place.

I have no experience with this; it's more my wife who is researching it. 😎
But as far as I understand it, you don't necessarily need a permanent position. You can also prepare all the bases and layers you need in boxes or flower pots, which you can then move around. But then you don't have any problems with insects, slugs, and weeds.

That's unpleasant, my friend, that you have your plants like Curry's for example and that they take the leaves. They will help you, my friend, I'm not saying all your neighbors, but some could surely get a better harvest to be shared among all of you.

It is always good to have the support of the family to carry out gardening tasks. I also like to plant some plants that can produce fruits and not so much flowers.

It's awesome to have support from your family! Usually I'm left alone to take care of the few plants we have... Being exposed all day to sun they need water daily on summer and it's up to me to remind that

That has been one of the dreams I have with my husband and is to have our own space and of course to have the fortune of having our own garden so that we can both take care of it because we are both passionate about nature.

I did not understand the reason for his discouragement, I first tried to understand that we have seasons in which the mood is not our companion, but when I read about the park they want to do in the place, I understood; some actions can completely demotivate us.

Is so beautiful! I love gardening but it’s been a long time since I didn’t practiced it. My mother taught me a lot about gardening, and as a teenager/adult I started to look for more information about it.

Thanks a lot for sharing this amazing practice-

Earlier I used to think a lot, but this year, I somehow don't have that same aggression - I hope you get what I am trying to tell.

It is good you stopped thinking too much. It shows you have outgrown that and realized that so much thinking doesn't solve any problems, rather, it cause health issue.

My friend and I really like flowers and plants right now, so we try to go to a beautiful place every day to look around and see newly designed flowers and plants that give us a lot of peace.

My wife doesn't really get involved too much but she does sometimes surprise me and bring some plants back for me if she visits a garden centre or plant nursery. We only have a smallish garden and I think she's happy to let me have space and a healthy hobby.

My wife is actually the driving force behind our garden. She has all the ideas and plans, I'm just her littlw worker bee 🤣 last night she decided to purchase a young peach tree and blackberry bush, so that's what I'll be doing when I get home from work!

Would you be able to explain more on your cloning process? I would like to try to clone some of our plants and flowers but I've never done it and don't want go kill them off!

Well, just cut the stem and put it on soil and keep in shade, it grows root in few days, there is a rootex powder, that can also be used that can help the process, to grow the root fast.

Oh, that seems pretty easy actually. I'll have to try that out this year and see how it goes! Thanks Sanjeevm!

Ya, but the catch is that, you should know which plant can be developed from stem :) does not work for every plant.

Oh I understand now, I'll have to do some research on the specific plants I have to see if I'll be able to do it that way.

We have some house plants that reroot themself and are easy to get started, but it would very useful to learn how to properly propagate a plant! Thank you for your help 😊
