My Pechay Gardening Journey: A Beginner's Gardening Story

avatar
(Edited)

I started gardening because of the beautiful posts I always see here in the #HiveGarden community.

‎Every time someone shares their harvest, I feel inspired.

‎I would quietly think, "I want to experience that too someday."

‎Seeing those crops grow from tiny seeds into food on the table, it looked so fulfilling.

‎And honestly, vegetables are becoming more expensive day by day.

‎So having something you can grow at home feels like a big help for the family.

‎At our organization, we were also advised to plant what we often buy.

‎So one day, I searched for seeds online. I was surprised because they were cheaper than I expected.

‎I decided to try first and bought pechay and eggplant.

‎Just these two kinds as I was just testing if the seller had good seeds and see if I could really grow something on my own.

‎I started with pechay because I heard it grows fast and is beginner-friendly.

Planted My Pechay Seeds

‎Last Monday marked the beginning of my small gardening journey.

‎I finally planted my pechay seeds.

‎I first looked for an unused basin at home and decided to turn it into a planting container.

‎I filled it with soil.

‎After that, I sprinkled the tiny pechay seeds on top.

‎Once done, I covered them with more soil.

‎My hands became so dirty, like they're completely brown with dirt.

‎This is really how gardening goes.

‎You can't plant without getting your hands dirty.

‎After that, I watered the basin, making sure not to pour too much.

‎Just enough to make the soil moist.

‎Then I carried the basin upstairs, placed it in a spot where it wouldn't be disturbed by my playful kids and our curious chicken.

Two Days After..

‎Two days later, I did my usual morning routine of watering my pechay seeds.

‎I wasn't expecting much yet, but there it was. 😍

‎A tiny green sprout breaking through the surface. ☺️

‎My heart instantly felt so happy.

‎Several little sprouts were already appearing. 💖

‎It meant the seeds were okay and started to grow well.

‎Those tiny leafy greens looked so cute and fresh. ✨

‎They were still so small, but I couldn't help but feel proud and became even more excited.

On Day Three

‎On day three of my pechay planting journey, I was amazed by how fast the pechay had grown.

‎Just yesterday, they were tiny baby sprouts, but now they are already taller. 😻

‎The leaves also opened wider and looked healthier.

‎In just one day, they seemed to change so much. 💕

Day 8

‎Today marks day eight of my pechay planting journey, and they are now fuller and greener.

‎I was actually planning to replant or transfer them today to give each plant more space to grow properly, but I just got home from my parents' house after a three-day vacation. 😅

‎As I checked on my pechay plants, I felt relieved that they were okay even while I was away.

‎Anyway, based on my research, the best time to replant pechay seedlings is around days 8 to 10.

‎It means I still have two more days to do it.

‎For now, I'll prepare for the next step of this gardening journey.

‎More updates coming soon! 👍🏼

‎Until my next Hive Garden article...

Thanks for the visit! Have a lovely day. Buh-bye. 💗🌸
