Early Morn's Lil Surprises

avatar

We were up early because we had to be on the road. While the sky is a bit gray, the rain has stopped, and hopefully it will remain so for at least a few days.

As part of my morning ritual, I went out for a little stroll in the yard (to stretch my legs and, well, to awaken the still groggy spirit). And oh boy, I was delighted! Three bees are enjoying the pollen of the pumpkin flower. What a great sight early in the day!

Another surprise caught my eye. A fruit! Well, not only one but two! Thank goodness the pests left some for us. It may be too early to celebrate, but I can't help it. If these make it until they are harvested for the table, they would be our very first success in growing the plant.

Meanwhile, one of the eggplant stems given to us by the neighbor is showing a good sign that it will soon thrive. Awesomeness! I didn't check the others at the west side of the house (it's muddy there), but I believe they must have grown more leaves with the generous rains.

And just when I thought the little surprises were over, I found another one nearly hidden beside the pile of old wood. It was growing on a damp ground. Leucocoprinus Birnbaumii, according to Google Lens (not sure though if it was ID'd correctly).

Somehow, my phone camera couldn't take better shots, but below is the closest one to its actual color. Yellowish-greenish, is it? Don't even know how to describe it, lol!

Not only my legs and eyes body got their nourishments, my soul too🤩 What a great start for a Tuesday! So I guess it's not too much to expect for some more, yeah?

The fruits look so beautiful. They look healthy and I'm wondering what prompted "if they make it..." They look healthy and surely going to stay except something (animal/pets) work on them

Thank you. There are a lot of insects and they usually sting on fruits. Sometimes, it would be too late for us to notice.

This is a beautiful post ... the three bees in the pumpkin flower can't be beat, though!

I guess that mushroom isn't edible right? It's too much colored

Good luck with whatever can eat that fruit 🤣

It isn't. It's just for the eyes.

Thank you, hope to enjoy the fruits in a month or so.

It will not take time for the pumpkin to ripe, the eggplant is coming up as well and the mushrooms with their beautiful colours. Your efforts are not in vain

Lovely photos! The mushrooms are colorful but I am not sure if it's safe to eat. The bees are having a good time sucking the nectar and that's just lovely.

You'll surely have more squash in the next days since there are still flowers. The eggplant also looks healthy will surely bear fruit soon. More veggies to come!
