Garden Therapy: Reaping Season

Hello, fellow Hive Gardeners!

It's my first time to post here, and I'm excited to share what I have in my very small garden so far. We have just moved to this new house last year around September and I was only able to start gardening a couple of months ago.

With my plate full all the time with different side hustles while taking care of the kids, I really need to be intentional in gardening if I am to make it work for us and reap not only the physical fruits but also the therapy that comes with doing it.

So far, here's what I have.

Bell Peppers

I love that we have this. To be honest, we don't normally eat bell peppers. These plants came from the seeds of the bell peppers we used at a time when we made pancit. I just planted them for the sake of planting something.

But here's what I realized in myself after using my bell pepper harvest in our meal: I told myself I needed to eat the bell peppers because I don't want to put my effort of planting them to waste.

Gardening--putting all the effort in it--is not really easy. That's why we also have to enjoy what we harvest and not put our effort to vain.

It's so satisfying to eat fresh and organic produce from your own backyard.

Another one is the blue ternate.

One time, I told my friend that I had a hard time falling asleep, and she recommended for me to drink blue ternate tea. That's the reason I bought a seed online and planted it. Although one pack comes with many seeds, I only planted one because I thought I can only attend to one. I didn't want to commit planting all seeds and end up losing them because I couldn't take good care of them.

I made tea for myself just tonight as part of my self-care.

I also have some strawberries.

The original ones are producing strawberry runners abundantly, but I have not really focused on helping them produce fruits yet. I need to work on their pot stand and securing they're protected from pests. Unfortunately, there are really a lot of roaming rats outside, and I'm afraid my effort to make them fruit will just go to waste.

I am grateful for what I have in my little garden as well as the opportunity to share them with you all. I'm inspired by others' posts showing off their garden and I think that is the essence of this group: to help each other be motivated and inspired to keep on going with our hobbies.

Thank you for reading. Ciao.

I first came across blue ternate or butterfly pea tea when I was living in Taiwan. I found it a bit tasteless on it's owne, but liked the novelty of it, it was very pretty.

I see you have just joined Hive, so welcome. When you have time, I would recommend you adding a profile picture and header to your post to make it more professional. I have a post pinned to my blog on tips for newbies. It will help you.

Thank you so much for the tips @livinguktaiwan. I will follow them. About the blue ternate, aside from its beauty it also has health benefits.

Wow, you went to a lot of effort on this post - I hope it didn't take you too long! We appreciate how much effort you've gone to and sorry we can't reward you further.

Roasted bell peppers are lovely - or on the bbq! Enjoy!
