Weeding Between the Cracks and My Continual Battle With Blooming Nature

avatar

This morning, I went down to our communal garden to do a bit of tidying up. I spent some time pulling up the weeds from between the cracks in the concrete. I bought a little gadget from a shop that's actually meant for getting mud out of a horse riders' boots. The last time I looked, I didn’t have a horse, but I found that it was perfect for pulling up weeds. It was as cheap as chips, too. It's backbreaking work, but it feels good to get some fresh air. I know in a couple of weeks' time, the frigging weeds will be poking through again, but for now it looks a lot better.

I came across a few surprises in the garden while I was weeding and clearing things out. The first was a pot meerkat peering at me. I felt as though I was being judged on my work.

The second was a sign, which I thoroughly agree with. "If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees!" Gardening is bad enough, without touching my toes.

For several months, a little robin has taken up residence in one corner of the garden. Every time, I pop down it makes an appearance. I usually have some birdseed in my pocket, so it always gets fed. Robins like sunflower hearts, so I might plant some sunflower seeds when the frost has past.

Sweeping up the leaves, I came across the usual suspects of worms and caterpillars. I think everything has its place, so I rescued them and put them somewhere safe. I don't like picking up worms. I think it goes back to my childhood when my grandad used to throw them at me. Anyway, I had my thick gardening gloves on, so it wasn't a problem.

The toads also got taken over the road to the village pond. After all that, it was time for me to have a shower!

What a lot of nice surprises you found in your garden. How beautiful the robin is. It has gotten used to you feeding it.

Thank you @ellenripley for sharing your day in the garden.

Does the pot meerkat and ther sign mean someone else is also working in the garden now? Or that you just hadn't found them yet XD

I remember pulling up weeds from between pavers, it was really trying. Like plants you have the rest of the yard why here. I think I got them all now though x_x

chickens helped a bit in that regard they ate literally everything when there was too many of them

Nobody is helping. The garden is a bit overgrown, so I just keep coming across hidden treasure. 😁

The weeds are a pain and I'm sure they will be back in a couple of weeks. I've got to just keep on top of them.

LoL! Adds to the fun I guess XD And the treasures you've been finding are definitely a lot nicer than the ones we've encountered while doing anything at all (looks like a whole pile of stuff like building rubbish was just buried).

There is a magical period of time in the future where you will have managed to get all of them out by the roots I'm sure of it :D
