What to SOW, for FIRST OF MARCH!
Choosing the seeds to sow for the first weekend of March! Also, I am giving a quick tour of my seedling starting shelf for 2026! I am growing peppers, onions, tomato, more onions, eggplant, LOTS of Onions, herbs including Oregano, Basil, Lavender, and more, as well as some Salad Greens.

My Gardens are in New England, Zone 7a and 7b

The process is easy, and using Finely sifted (I use a quarter inch clarifier) seed starting mix, with some vermiculite, and perlite, and then some seeds. Usually, I try and give some extra seeds to make sure that I get a good germination rate.

Most of you know, I prefer to grow my own food, locally. It's healthier for my family, and for the planet. I know what goes into my foods, and what chemicals are NOT in my food. Also, It cuts down on carbon emissions, less trucking, planes, trains, and boats, to get fresh foods to my table.

And that makes me smile... better for the planet, better for my own family.

Always enjoy your gardening posts. They are always timed perfectly for me to get going. I read what you are doing and have a week or two before I have to get it done here in Vermont. We have some peppers, onions and tomatoes started. Probably a litte early for tomatoes but we like nice big tomato plants when we move them outside. Damn gardening stores ruin it for everyone when they put out tomato plants for sale in May that already have blooms or even tomatoes. Keep those plants in Mexico where they came from lol

LOL
I agree! It might be a bit early, for tomato, but I have an indoor sun room and LIKE YOU, want my plants fairly big as I transplant them outside.
