July Garden Journal

Gardening is like an activity that colors the earth. Do you agree with that?

photo-output.jpeg
Like the gardening journals in previous months, I will take you again to the small garden in front of my house that creates beautiful colors.

IMG_7077.jpeg
Let's go for July garden journal on my mini garden. Have fun!

Morning or evening is the best time to see the garden. Also in the morning and evening is the time to water the plants and also give fertilizer and do pest control.

IMG_7020.jpeg

IMG_7073.jpeg

In the morning, I usually do watering. In addition, I will fertilize regularly once a week or once every two weeks. Depending on the type of organic fertilizer I use. If liquid fertilizer, I will use it once a week on all types of my plants. Meanwhile, if using solid fertilizer such as animal manure, or compost, I will give it once every two weeks in the morning.

In addition to watering and fertilizing in the morning, of course there are other activities that I really like in the morning. Drinking tea or coffee, and enjoying a light breakfast.

Under the soft morning sunlight, and I will let my body bathe in the warm sunlight. While I also read a book.

This July, the plants in my small garden have also survived very well. Although it has not rained for several weeks here in my area, it has entered the dry season.

The tomatoes are three weeks old. There are two types of tomatoes that I planted. One is a golden cherry tomato and the other is a curry rose tomato.

IMG_6867.jpeg

For the golden cherry tomato, I can only grow 2 trees, from the 15 seeds that I sowed. That's because golden cherry tomatoes are not plants that originate from my country. I hope they can grow well.

IMG_6868.jpeg

The type of green lettuce that I planted is curly lettuce. Currently, they are 3 weeks old, the same as the previous tomatoes.

They are very fertile even with organic methods. And it turns out that this type of green lettuce is very easy to care for. Because so far I have not found any pests that can damage their leaves.

IMG_7074.jpeg

In a week, I will harvest this green lettuce. I can't wait for it because this is my first time planting this type.

IMG_7084.jpeg

Next, I have white bak choi that is ready to be harvested. It is almost a month old. Actually I wanted to wait another week, but it turns out that this bak choi attracts a lot of pests. Because the leaves of this white bak choi are very delicious.

IMG_7010.jpeg

IMG_7009.jpeg

Last night I checked my plants and I found a type of snail, a snail without a house shell. We call it a naked snail here. Luckily I saw the snail before it finished off all the leaves of the white bak choi.

IMG_7093.jpeg

IMG_7105.jpeg

IMG_7106.jpeg

It's time to harvest. First, I harvested the white bak choi. The stems of the white bak choi are very beautiful, but fragile. So I have to be careful to harvest them to avoid their stems breaking.

IMG_7107.jpeg

In addition to cooking for me and my husband, I will also give this white bak choi to my neighbors. Well, in another block later I will share the recipe for this white bak choi soup.

Other plants that I have harvested many times are bush beans, baby beans that do not grow on vines.

IMG_6865.jpeg

In early July, I have harvested these bean plants 5 times. They have a lot of fruit. But unfortunately, the sunlight seems to have shifted to other areas. So the other bean fruits that are still abundant on the plant seem difficult to grow. And the plants are also easily affected by pests due to lack of sunlight. We'll see later.

See you in the next my mini garden journal ❤️

Wow! It's nice to visit your garden again. I'm glad the white bak choy survived the pests, including grasshoppers and that sneaky slug eating the leaves. They actually form lines on the leaves and leave shiny, silvery slime trails, making the leaves a bit uglier. I think they haven't infested your bok choi that much since the leaves are still green and healthy, except for some holes.

And how could I forget about those green lettuces! Their leaves look crunchy. I like eating lettuce, but I can't grow it in my garden. I don't know, they just don't grow when I plant them. Maybe they don't like me haha 😆

the tomatoes are doing well. I have 50 tomatoes in my garden but my neighbor's chickens keep digging them up, I just hope they survive.

I enjoyed the visit. I'll be back for your next update. happy gardening! 💞

I agree—and it not only brings colour, but also prosperity to those who tend a garden, no matter its size. And it inspires those who witness its fruits and its beauty. In other words… you inspire us! 😉

Gardening is like an activity that colors the earth

I can't agree less.

As usual, you make gardening look so easy. Your garden is doing great but about the shell-less snail, were you able to eradicate it?
