QOTW Week 3 – Gardening in My Family / ちょうどいい距離感での家族とガーデニング

My love for gardening was deeply influenced by my mother and her parents, for me grandparents. Sadly, they have all passed away, so I cannot show you their gardens. I think they would have been proud—or at least curious to my gardens 😉

So I write about my family. As for my partner, gardening is not really his thing. He has probably stepped out onto our balcony... maybe ten times in total in the last three years 😅 Still, we both share an appreciation for nature and care about the environment, so we meet in values if not in habits.

My daughter, on the other hand, often helps out and loves spending time with me on the balcony. I sometimes wonder if her fondness for vegetables comes from growing up around plants since she was a baby. Her first plant was a tomato and it's all time her favorite.

In addition to tomatoes, she enjoys growing carrots for her papa. It's his favorite. We enjoy the home grown carrots with wild strong flavour.

This Sunday, I’ll be showing my family the new garden space I’ve recently rented for the first time.

If my partner were a passionate gardener too, we might have ended up competing for space on our little balcony! So in the end, the different “gardening enthusiasm levels” in our family might actually be just the right balance 😊

私がガーデニングを好きになったのは、母と祖父母の影響が大きいです。残念ながら皆すでに他界していて、母や祖父母の庭を見せることができないのが残念です。

ということで家族とガーデニングについて書くことにします。相方はガーデニングにはあまり興味がありません。この3年でバルコニーに出てきたのは…多分10回くらい？😅 でも自然が好きなところや、環境に配慮している考え方など、価値観では共感し合えるところがあります。

子供はガーデニングよく手伝ってくれて、バルコニーで一緒に過ごす時間も大好きです。野菜が好きなのは、赤ちゃんの頃から植物に囲まれて育ったおかげかもしれません。初めて育てたのはトマトで、今でも一番好きな植物の一つです。

この数年は相方が大好きな人参を育てるのにはまっていて、野生的な強い風味の自家製人参を、家族で楽しんでいます。

今度の日曜日、最近借りた新しい庭でイースターのエッグハントをやろうという話になり、家族に庭をお披露目します。写真はもう見せてあるので大丈夫だとは思いますが、気に入ってくれるといいな。

今回この投稿を書きながら、もしパートナーもガーデニングに夢中だったら、小さなバルコニーを取り合うことになっていたかも？と思いました。そう考えると、家族それぞれのガーデニング熱のバランスは、意外とちょうど良いのかもしれません😊
