We Found Villages in Desert Oasis Survival in Minecraft

Last time, I talked about starting a Desert Oasis-themed Minecraft survival server where you have to keep yourself hydrated while being stranded in the middle of an endless desert. I gave more details on how we setup that server and how the first few days went there, in this post.

We started a small farm which has wheat, carrots and potatoes. These farms kept us healthy for the first few dangerous days. Husks with spears are not that easy to deal with. If there are 3-4 of them, they can easily overwhelm you even in the iron armour.

Pillagers can still show up anywhere, anytime. One moment I was tending to my farm, and when I turned around, two of them were readying their crossbows xD.

We were mining on and off. We couldn't get a long mining session going because of the limited supply of glass bottles we could take with us. It has changed how we progress in this world. Usually, we like to have a big mining session and come up only after covering ourselves with full diamond armour and diamond tools. But this time we were satisfied with a few diamonds only.

Our carrot farm was getting bigger, and we had a surplus of carrots soon to be fed to the hungry rabbits. Poor guys don't know why I am feeding them so many carrots, or they would not eat them.

We went exploring to see if we could find any other structure in this desert. I had a bit of hope that we could find another biome if we travelled far enough. So, we packed a lot of water, delicious cooked potatoes and our handy tools and went out in the morning.

We saw one of the coolest cave entrances not far from our oasis. It was like a portal to hell, going hundreds of blocks deep. But we didn't come out to explore caves today, so we had to skip it this time. We will come here later for a mining session.

We weren't even sure if there were pre-generated structures in this world, but we saw a village. That means we can have easy villagers now and plenty of food as well.

Looks like they were also suffering from this heat. They even had a couple of wells and little waterfalls.

So, there are villagers. Now, the second question is whether there are desert temples around. We started looking for it, but couldn't find any temples. In the meantime, we found two more villages relatively close to this first village.

We didn't find any other structure apart from the villages, nor did we see any other biome. So, it is fairly certain that we have an endless desert biome. We did find sheep in some of the houses, but no cows. We were hoping to get a couple back to our base and start a massive cow farm. But we might have to find another village for that.

You can see what our little oasis looks like in the middle of an endless desert. We have lit up the surrounding area a bit to reduce mob spawns, but they still end up inside occasionally.

Our rabbits are multiplying faster than I anticipated. They are the only source of leather and books for now. Enchantments like Fortune III would be nice to get. We already have an enchanting table; we just need to make bookshelves now.

Join us next time as we try to get filthy rich by mining underground. Can we get full diamond armor before going to the Nether?

Thanks for reading.

Until next time...
