Unlocking More Endings in The Binding of Isaac (Repentance)
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
I am enjoying The Binding of Isaac and trying to get to as many endings as I can. The game has 21 ending numbers from 1 to 21 and a final ending. So, a total of 22. That's too many endings for a game. And I am just trying to beat the game and see which ending I end up with.
As I understand, multiple factors and choices in the game affect which ending you will get, some might be even locked behind other endings or doing multiple runs and killing the same boss multiple times to unlock. Some might even be linked to which character you choose to play as... this is all a big experiment that I have to play and understand. I might have to take some external help to see how I can progress if I get stuck and see the same ending over and over. For now, I am barely reaching the end of the game. Only once in a while, if I get items with good synergies and a bit of luck, I can reach the end to defeat Mom and Mom's heart.
The last time I talked about defeating Mega Satan twice, and unlocked endings 15 and 16. Not sure why defeating the same boss at the end had a different ending than the other. Must be some event that happened during the run that I forgot.
I had an amazing run with Eve, where I first found a skeleton key giving me 99 keys. Wow! I didn't even know you could get this many keys. And then I got an item which changed every room reward and other items to be chests. Later, I found something that had an increased chance of duplicating rewards and so on. The run was so goated that I could open multiple chests in the same room.
I had an army of familiars, too. Then, somewhere I found Brimstone, which is like a laser beam dealing a lot of damage, and another item helped me shoot multiple beams at the same time.
I even found 9 extra lives items so I could revive 9 times in the run... I knew this would be an easy run. I was doing a normal run because lucky runs like this don't happen regularly. Also, I am unlocking some items or the other almost every run, so that should make the game slightly easier, so I can attempt the hard mode.
In this ending, which is termed as Ending 1 in Repantance+, Isaac opens the Golden Chest and jumps inside it. Unlike the other devilish ending, this time he didn't turn into a devil but had white hair with glowing light coming from his chest. This looks like a good ending where Isaac somehow achieved some kind of enlightenment and escaped from his mom. Is this the rebirth of Isaac? xd
I played some more runs with Eve on the Greed Mode just to see if I could get a different ending. But she has very low health, and I am not getting too lucky. Once, I reached almost the end, but nope. This game is not that easy after all. It may seem like it when you have items which go well with each other, but most of the time, you are getting some stupid items that are not very useful in what you are trying to do.
But the more you experiment, the more you learn... right? I am learning a lot of things about the game. I just choose a bad item sometimes to see if I can use it in a way that it can work.
My biggest mistake is taking too many items from the devil's room in exchange for your precious red hearts. It can work if you find more health on the same floor or the next floor, but if you don't, it might just be the end of the run. A glass cannon doesn't usually work here, and I have ended a lot of my runs where I had a lot of powerful offensive items and too low health.
Even with some of the flows of the game and the item pool being too broad, and the a dependence on luck. It is still a very fun experience. It gives a lot of replay value to the game, and all those endings and bosses make it feel like not repeating too much.

This game has always caught my attention, but I have never played it. I remember at one time it was a game played by all the famous Youtubers of the time.

I've heard a lot about this game, I don't know where I saw that someone achieved platinum in that game, from what I know it's very difficult, and at first glance it looks like a game called soul knight
This game is truly amazing. Probably one of the best rogue-like games out there. I must say it takes few attempts to get used to controls and strategies. But, once you get to know it and get better you are not letting it go. You have initiated a great series 🤞🏻. Great work 😇👏

That's the attitude to have, learning as you go, although I'm quite surprised. Twenty-two different endings? Wow, you must be having a lot of fun trying to achieve that. Good luck with those endings and your adventure.
