Sharpening My Nail for Silksong
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
I have been playing a lot of Hollow Knight lately. Trying to prepare for the upcoming Silksong game. I hope and wish that Silksong will be at least half as good as the Hollow Knight. I am afraid the expectation and hype have gone too far for this game; hopefully, not many people will be disappointed with it.
I am replaying Hollow Knight and sharing my progress here. Last time, I defeated two dreamers, Herrah and Lurien. For the third one, I had to collect Isma's tears from the Royal Waterways. While I was in these sewers, I went on and fought Flukemarm. It is an optional boss and is quite easy.
Before going to fight Uumuu in the Teacher's archive, I fought Brooding Mawlek for the mask shard. It is an optional fight too, but fun and easy for me.
Uumuu was next for me. Quirrel helped me with that, like always. All that time, he was the one carrying the mask of the third dreamer.
Once I got Monomom, the entrance of the temple of the black egg was unsealed, and we could enter and fight the Hollow Knight. But that is not the final boss of the game. It is one of the endings only, and there are many difficult endings later. The next one involves killing the source of infection, the Radiance.
To get to the Radiance, I had to do a lot of things. Getting enough dream essence to get the awoken dream nail and using it, we enter the White Palace to get half of the King's Soul charm. The other half is simply with the White lady at the western edge of the map in Queen's garden.
But before that, I decided to get the shade cloak and upgrade my spells.
I fought some more optional bosses in the meantime, like the Collector, who gives the map of all the captured grubs. I wanted to free all of them. Grubfather gives you Pale Ore for rescuing them, too. Not sure how many you have to rescue for that. But my goal was to get the pure nail and get the achievement for freeing all grubs.
I took the last three pale ores to the Nailsmith so he could upgrade my nail to pure nail. Once he did that, he wanted to not live anymore. That was his life's goal, and now that it is over, he wanted me to kill him. The game offers a choice here, and both options come with an achievement attached. So, you have to play again to get the other achievement.
I let him live because after we find him again, he thanks us for sparing his life. It was a happy ending for him. But on my first playthrough, I killed him without any hesitation, thinking this is what the game wanted me to do. xD
It was time for me to get the Awoken Dream Nail from the Seer and enter the White Palace. But this White Palace section has a challenging platforming section, and I wanted to get the Hiveblood charm before that, so I killed an entire army of bees along with their queen.
The White Palace is tough, and there is a very challenging subsection there called "The Path of Pain". I never cleared it, but I have plans to do it before Silksong launches.
Once I got the second half of Kingsoul, it was time to go to the Abyss and go back in time. My favourite part of the game is this little section where the game tells you about the time Hollow Knight was selected and how we just barely missed it.
This gave me the Void Heart, which meant I could go and fight the Radiance now. But before that, I decided to complete the Colosseum of the Fools.
I continued my adventure of rescuing all the grubs. They are too cute to be left alone. It took me some time, but I managed to get all the grubs. That's a huge relief. Now, I will go and kill the Radiance next. Wish me luck.
Thanks for reading...

The bee boss gave me a lot of trouble at the time
Yeah, I don't have much experience with that one as well. I died once to it in this run, too.
This was such a fun read! And you are clearly making great progress. I wish you the best against Radiance.
Thanks, mate.
Since I don't plan on playing it because I'm not a big fan of Metroidvania, I've been watching a bit on streams these days, since with Silksong on the way, half the world is getting ready for it haha. The thing is, I saw the path of pain and it's insane, some sections really cause you pain haha. I saw a guy who took about 5 hours to complete it.
I did the Path of Pain now... Finishing it was one of the best feelings ever. I recorded the last part of it, which I will share soon. It took me about 2 hours but I had spent roughly the same amount of time last time before giving up at the end. Happy to finally do it.
