Nether, Potions and a Pig on a Lilypad

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

Let's continue our Luanti adventures. In the previous post, I reported how we found some rare biomes, including a Mooshroom island in the game.

I wanted to create a lot of potions, but we were running short on blaze rods and some other potion ingredients. It was time to go back to the deadly Nether world and defeat some monsters.

I took some potions of fire resistance with me to avoid any misadventures with lava. It saves me from fire damage that I get from the blazes, but somehow, the fire damage is bugged, and it doesn't make much difference in the game.

I tested my potion of night vision, and it works in the overworld, but in the Nether, there is no change in visuals. It makes sense because you can see the "WIP" (work in progress) tag on this potion. I wish it worked in the nether, or they could change the effect to make it a bit brighter.

Another thing which is kinda broken is the spawning mechanism of blazes. There are like 15 of them, and each shoots almost instantly and at the same time. Their fireballs can take down a fully enchanted diamond armour in a couple of seconds.

I devised a strategy to use this to my advantage. Their fireball can damage each other, so you can use it to kill them. Once they die, their rods will be on the floor. You can go down and break the blocks right under those drops and collect them. But you still have to be careful and not go directly in sight of them.

My next target was collecting Ghast's tears. These are even more dangerous than the blazes. Their explosions can damage blocks, and if you lag a bit while fighting them, it could mean you end up dying easily.

I killed one of them by redirecting its fireball back to it. That gave me a new achievement called "Fireball Redirection Service". Funny name xD.

I collected a few ghast tears only. It got a bit dangerous because there were 3 ghasts at the same place. And all of them are shooting from different angles.

We set up a brewing station in the trading hall. A nice quality of life improvement here is that you can stack potions.

I went in search of an ocean to catch some rare fish. I noticed that puffer fish and clown fish are used in a couple of potions. This is when I discovered that you can ride pigs... what?? I have been playing this game for so long, but never tried riding pigs because why would you lol.

That poor piggie doesn't look happy at all.

I was also looking for slimes so I can make the slime balls into Magma cream. I found a new pet, which sadly, didn't last long.

It was sitting on my shoulder, and I went exploring. The next time I checked on it, it was already gone. Not sure why or how they get off my shoulder.

I didn't find any slimes here, so I went back to my home and started brewing the potions which I could make. I made a semi-automatic system for brewing potions using hoppers and chests.

To make it fully automatic, I had to make a complicated redstone circuit, and I am not even sure if any redstone circuit will work with any consistency here. I have had bad results with redstone circuits in this game.

This was fine enough. We have a lot of extra brewing stands, too, and Beril helped me fill a lot of water bottles and make awkward potions out of them. Later, I created a lot of potions using those.

I think I went a bit too overboard with those. We now have a lot of Potion of Swiftness, Night vision and Fire Resistance, along with some Potion of healing and harming.

Let me end this post with a weird shot of a pig standing on a lily pad in the middle of a pond. How did he get there? What are his plans? Nobody knows. xD

And don't you dare ask me about the skeleton horse chilling in the water. (My best guess is they are both planning to take over our tree house)

Thank you, bro.

Nether is very inconsistent. At times it is like the safer than the overworld and than 2 seconds later you are ambushed by 3 hoglins and die quickly. Good luck!

I remember the day where minecraft was still innocent on it's vanilla update. I still feel the excitement where in the past I used to play with my friends and have a good time just by building own houses and defeating the dragon. But I appreciate and am excited to try the new update today.

Yeah, Minecraft have changed a lot... I used to play it years ago, had some of the best memories, trying to learn things from scratch. Sometimes learning things the hard way lol.
