Gearing up for my first Boss fight in Terraria! Let's Play -Terraria Part #5

Hello, gamers. Hope you are doing well.

Exploring the rich world of Terraria is fun and exciting, there seem to be multiple biomes each having unique mobs and items to collect. There seem to be a lot of NPCs are well. I met a few merchants so far and my trusty guide who gives me all the information and crafting recipes.

I think I did not take the intended progression route and went with whatever I felt like doing. I mined for hours until my inventory got full or just wandered around on the surface exploring new biomes and looting chests in the dungeons.

I saw very late that there was a quest that wanted me to equip full iron armour. I saw it early in the game but forgot about this quest as I didn't have enough iron to make the armour anyway at that time. But now I had some iron bars which I used to make Iron Helmet and Iron Chainmail but I didn't have enough to make the Iron pants or whatever they are called. So, it was back to mining for me. I really thought I had enough but no.

I found Iron and Gold ore quickly in the mines. I just mined a few chunks of Iron ore and it was enough. Now I know why I didn't have enough even though I am mining like crazy, I never gave much importance to iron and always ignored it. Also, I made some tools with that earlier.

Anyway, I used the magic mirror to teleport back to the surface smelted those ores into Iron Bars and made that missing piece of armour.

I still don't fully understand the three columns of slots where I can equip my armour and items. I had the wooden armour equipped in the middle column but when I tried to switch that to the iron counterparts it didn't work so I put them in the third column where I equipped those magical items that give me buffs and special abilities. That worked and I completed the achievement at last.

Now the next quest was to equip a grappling hook, I had seen some recipes for hooks but at that time I was short on those precious gems. Well, it was time for me to go mining again and look for those precious gems (emeralds, diamonds, amethyst etc). I had some but not enough to make a hook.

I used some bombs this time around to mine. Mining is fun with bombs, wish there were some easy recipes for making bombs but I don't see any yet. Maybe I need to find an NPC which sells bombs cheaply.

My mining operation was going great until it was stopped by un-minable blocks. I could still destroy them with bombs but I only had a few left so I didn't use every. But I had a couple of grenades which I never used before so I tested them here and they did a powerful explosion but nothing too fancy. I was having fun because I mined enough emeralds to make a hook. So, I teleported back to my house and made one.

It requires only 15 emaralds to make an emarald hook and I equipped it in one of the slots. I played around with my new hook, it is so helpful in traversing those cave systems where I kept making wooden platforms. Now I can just use these hooks and go up or down easily. No need to make staircases which I was making. What an idiot move that was...lol

Now the next quest was to Defeat the "Eye of Cthulhu", an ocular menace who appears at night. This sounds scary so I got to prepare first and know what this menace looks like. I have died from those little eyes before in my early game but now I can kill them easily. They drop some 'lens' and when I saw what they are used for I saw "Suspicious Looking Eyes" which can summon this monster.

But to make this I need a "Demon Altar", don't know where I can find this, sounds like a rare item. Well, maybe the monster will spawn without this Suspicious Lookin Eye. I decided to make a platform over my house. This would work like an area where I can fight without risking destroying my house. And having up and down movements during what seems like a boss fight will be very crucial. I just used wooden platforms that I could reach with my hook.

It came up with a horrible-looking platform which widens as it goes up. Monsters started to spawn so I had to put some torches down. It seemed much bigger in the game than what it looks now in this screenshot. Putting down one block at a time is surely time-consuming, maybe there are some tools which let me build faster?

Now that my platform is ready and I have equipped the Iron armour and good enough gold weapons, I have to go out and find that Altar so I can summon the Eye of Cthulhu and hopefully kill it. Or get destroyed by it completed.

I have yet to explore the left side of my spawn area too, last time I went in the right direction and got to the edge of the map... there was a big ocean and there might be some hidden chest under that water which I can't access at the moment. I need to get myself something which helps me in breathing underwater. Maybe there is nothing there and it's just a smart way of making a border of Terraria's World. There are a lot of questions yet to be answered.
