Elden Ring: Windmill Village and the Godskin Apostle
Hello and welcome back to my blog!
It's been some time since I shared an update on my Elden Ring adventures. Things have been going slow lately. I was not excited to play and grind after being humiliated by the Dragonic Tree Sentinel in the Altus Plateau. I was such a weakling in front of him that I didn't even play the game for a while. But I had to get stronger and defeat him no matter what. I can't let just one boss end this series...right?
There are plenty of unexplored areas in the Altus Plateau. I found a minor erdtree not far from that Tree Sentinel. Interestingly, this Erdtree was not guarded by a boss and only had smaller enemies. A nice change of pace. It gave me another Cracked Tear and a Crimson Crystal Tear.
Later, I fought some villagers in front of a windmill. One of them dropped a cool sword, which is sharp on both ends. How can you not hurt yourself while using it lol.
In one of the old shacks, I fought some Giant Rats and got a new ghost spirit, Giant Rat Ashes. These can be used in my battles, but are not as strong as some of the other spirits I have.
I tried to take down a powerful wizard. He had a lot of health and turned out to be a strong opponent, dealing high magic damage. One damage type I hate in this game is Magic, I have little to no defence against it. He crushed me several times, too.
I met a weird-looking guy who was pointing his finger towards the giant erdtree in the middle of the city. Look at his face, is he a sunflower? xd
Turns out, it was just a fancy mask. But this guy looked important. Sadly, it doesn't speak at all. One thing is clear that I need to get to the base of that golden erdtree, and for that, I need to get much stronger.
So, it was time to grind and kill a lot of enemies, gather more runes and level up my offensive and defensive stats.
I reached a weird village called Dominula, Windmill Village. What I call weird is that all the ladies here were singing and dancing and minding their business. It was as if these people were controlled by something, and they didn't care about anything. Unless you hit one of them and they all become aggressive with farm tools and try to kill you.
They were not difficult to kill, and they gave plenty of runes too. I had a checkpoint nearby, so I could just 'farm' these farmers for runes and level up once or twice until I got bored.
There were some accidents too, they killed me a couple of times. These ladies do not want to be messed with.
But these were easy compared to the guy I was about to face. Once you reach the top of the hill, there is a windmill, and you find a tough boss, the Godskin Apostle. Even his name frightened me.
This guy was a maniac, having both deadly range attacks with his black magic fireballs and strong physical attacks with his long-range weapon.
But when you think you can deal with him somehow, he comes up with more attacks. Some of them involve stretching his body in every way to deal a massive amount of damage. Both AOE and physical damage.
Thankfully, I could absorb his physical attacks fully with my brass shield and having a spirit like my jellyfish to distract him was useful.
His swinging blade attack was so deadly that it ended many of my attempts. It drains all your stamina quickly, and if you can't get out of its range in time, it will be your end.
I tried different weapons, spirit combinations, swords with different skills, etc. I must have fought him like 30 times for a couple of hours to defeat him. I feel so relieved once I killed him. One of the best feelings a video game can give you. All that experience I gained from fighting him, trying different things, learning his moves, and finally killing him with pure skills, that's what gives you motivation to play more. But it made me tired.
I got a twinblade, Godskin Peeler. But the issue is, I need 22 dexterity to use it. And I would rather upgrade my katana. I love the fact that it is so lightweight and that chilling mist skill, it is quite useful for general purpose use.
It is now +8 upgraded. That's a lot of upgrades to spend on your base weapon. I don't know if it was a smart choice, but now I am heavily invested in this setup unless I find a game-changing weapon later that is easy to use too and fits my build.
After a tough challenge like this, let's see what other challenges await me.

- All the content is mine unless otherwise stated.
- Screenshots are from the game, Elden Ring.

I've seen that many people have been choosing the wizard vocation a lot, they have some amazing skills, especially because there are some that allow you to create weapons through magic and use them against an enemy for a while, and the combats here are extremely amazing.
I like to get real close and do some good old-fashioned physical damage. That's why I have a mostly physical build with little to no focus on magical stuff. I was too lazy to experiment as well and went with the easier and direct options.

I don't know why I see this game as a nightmare. Imagine that one day you go to sleep and wake up here xD I find it too terrifying. On the other hand, I've always loved this game, but honestly, its mechanics were quite difficult for my poor keyboard (dodging with a keyboard is horrible for me). Where do you play it, on a console or PC? Keyboard or controller?
haha... that would be a proper nightmare. I don't want to die again and again in gruesome ways. I tried it with a controller initially, did not like it at all. Then shifted to keyboard in the beginning and stuck to it. I feel like the UI and controls could have been much better. It took me a long time to get used to them.
I think it's an easy boss, but it seems to me that you went with a much lower level to face him (I remember killing him with a few hits). Have you tried using the mimic tear as a summon? It's a clone of you that does massive damage.
I don't have it, I feel like I skipped a lot of things and got lucky with the Dectus Medallion and came here. I am way underprepared... it took me literal hours to beat him lol.
