Elden Ring: Margit the Fell Omen

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

The world of Elden Ring has some tough bosses and if we, a lowly tarnished, want to become the Elden Lord, we have to get through these tough encounters.

One of the earlier ones that is not a skippable boss is Margit the Fell Omen. He is guarding us to enter the castle gates. I wasn't ready at all for this fight. But I still tried my best, and after failing more than a dozen times, I knew this was not happening. I should try to go back and level up more and see if I can even deplete half of its health.

That's why I went back to explore and level up more. Do you remember the giants with hollowed-out stomachs? You can find a couple of them dragging a big cart. They had a big hook in their belly so that's why they look like this? Maybe the ones who are roaming free managed to take off these hooks.

I met a girl who gifted me a Spirit of Jellyfish. At first, I didn't know what to do with those, but later I figured out you can call the spirits at certain locations, and these will help you in combat, and that's where my FP should be consumed.

I went back to the area where the mighty Tree Sentinel was roaming on his horse with a big spear and shield. But this time I had a new plan, the plan was to go into the cave entrance where this guy cannot fit, in and I shot him with an arrow. I know it is exploiting his huge size and no range attacks. But I wanted to see what this guy drops.

I didn't believe it would work, but he was stupid enough to follow me. Bro was pissed off but he couldn't destroy the walls and get in while I patiently sniped him. It took around 70 basic arrows and a few flaming arrows to take it down.

And he dropped his weapon, which I can't even use because that required like 30 strength and I had about 15 lol. But at least it gave me some good chunk of runes.

This one had a big health bar at the bottom, and it didn't come back so I am guessing he was one of the big bosses in the game who you can only kill once. And this will be the case with every boss with a big health bar.

Just next to these plains was a swamp with a lot of bugs. I was surprised when a whole ass dragon came out of the water with boss music playing and the health bar appearing. Well, a guy on a horse was fine, but a fire-breathing dragon who had range attack too? I didn't think this could be cheesed like the other one.

I tried to pick fight with that dragon but realised it soon. He was too damn strong for me right now. Maybe the arrows will work, but it would take too long, so I didn't even try it.

We Fell together

After gaining a lot of levels and increasing my HP and stamina it was time to kill Margit. I knew it is not going to be easy but I had a spirit companion now.

That jelly fish would poison him which deplets his health constantly but it was very slow. That means I had to just defend a lot in that fight.

I tried and tried and tried, and finally, one good run came where I was about to kill him, and all my healing flasks ran out too. He had the effect of the jellyfish, but he killed me. And as the 'You Died' thing popped up on the screen, he died too.

So, we both died at the same time. But I didn't know if the game registered it as death, so I went back and got my runes, and he wasn't there. Thankfully, the game considered it dead. It gave me a talisman pouch which was sitting in my inventory, a lot of runes ( 19000 if I remember correctly) and access to the Stomveil Castle.

I think this one fight taught me a lot about stamina management, dodging and defense in general. I tried several different types of weapons too.

Every death taught me something. I must have died like 20 times and that's what made this boss so satisfying to kill.

Stormveil Castle, here I come! Wish me luck.

Until next time...

Margit the Fell Omen really brings back good memories and the entire process of getting to that first boss while leveling up to be strong enoug on itself felt like a full-lenght Game that provided enough fun for it to be worth it. And this while it's only just the start and the first boss of Elden Ring.

For me, some games really should come in these kind of episodes where you have fun for 5+ Hours and have it completed instead of these 60+ Hour long time investments. Especially for those like me who also aren't that skilled at it.

The Tree Sentinel trick was genius. The dude really thought he could squeeze into that cave. I hope the Stormveil treats you better

I felt like cheating but then I remember that guy is too big for a normal duel anyway, so F him lol.

Hahahahahaha you died 20 times but you made it. I've been told this game is one of the hardest. It's on my list. At some point, I'll get a chance to play it and see how hard it is. Those monsters on the wagon look like something out of a movie.

For the first 10 times or so, I was not at all prepared... couldn't even get him to half health. Then, after some upgrades and Spirit's help I was able to close the gap and finally killed it (right after he killed me lol)
