Do You Remember? Age of War #1

As a gamer, I used to play a lot of games, especially when I was a child. I still remember some of the games I played back then. I can still play some of them, but there are others that I can no longer play. That's why I decided to start a series called “Do You Remember?” In this series, I will share with you the games I played in the 2000s.

This image was created by artificial intelligence. The prompt is provided by me.

Age of War is the first of these games. You can find the gameplay video for this game above. It's a game you can currently download and play for free on Steam.

Age of War used to be played in a browser, and I remember spending a few enjoyable hours playing it back then. Your goal is to win the battle against the AI and destroy its base. You start the game in the Stone Age and can progress all the way to the Space Age.

On the right side of the screen, there is a special power you can use that is appropriate for that era. If you find yourself in a tough spot, you can use it. This special power rains meteors down on your opponents in the first age. The fact that the extinction of dinosaurs was caused by a meteor is a nice touch xd.

You can see your units in the top-right corner. As you advance through the ages, you can produce more advanced soldiers. Currently, I can produce a mounted cavalryman, a knight, and a soldier wielding a weapon.

You can add weapons to your base. How useful they are is debatable; in easy mode, you don't need any of them.

Some special powers are really pointless. For example, the superpower in the third age allows your soldiers to regenerate health. If you consider that only one soldier is being attacked at a time, this is very ineffective. The meteor storm in the first age is ten times better lol.

I've completed this game several times in simple and medium difficulty modes. Back in the day, I struggled to succeed, but now it feels very easy. Not surprising, haha. If I played seriously, I could probably win the game in 6-7 minutes, but I prolonged it a bit to show you different things.

I'll try to give each game I play in this series a score. My score for this game is 5 out of 10. It was fun to play back in the day, but when I played it today, it was quite boring. I chose it purely for nostalgia, and it was nice to reminisce. Maybe they could have added new things when they re-released the game. More ages and different units would have been nice.

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed it. Have you ever played this game? If you have, don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments. Take care and have a great day!

Oh wow I remember quite a few of those side scrollers from back in the day. Sure they were not fancy with 8 and 16 bit graphics but were they ever playable!

So many great formative console memories has made me the gaming addict I am still today.

This brings me memories of the flash games we used to play. I know this one, but we rarely played it just because we thought it was boring. We would mostly go for those dirt bike games and other high-action ones. Do you remember that one penguin game where they would jump off from the cliff, and you had to steer it? That was funny, man.

I've never seen this game before, hahaha, it looks like a Neo Geo version of Age of Empires or something like that. XD

But I had no idea it was a browser game. It looks pretty old-school, haha. Thanks so much for letting me know.
