You are what you say you are... a Sea of Stars 🌊🌟

Sea of Stars just released on August 29th and it landed on the PS Plus Extra game catalog on day 1. You can find this on Switch/Xbox/PC for about $35. This new indie title is developed by Sabotage Studio and has garnered significant attention and excitement from gamers around the world - specifically those who love a retro-inspired turn-based RPG.

Set in a beautifully crafted fantasy world, the game promises a captivating and immersive experience that combines classic role-playing elements with modern design sensibilities. Sabotage Studio, known for their previous success with The Messenger, aims to create a nostalgic yet innovative journey that pays homage to classic RPGs of the past while introducing fresh gameplay mechanics.

At the heart of "Sea of Stars" lies a compelling narrative that centers around two Children of the Solstice, a pair of young heroes with the power to manipulate time and utilize celestial magic. The game is set in a meticulously designed universe where players will embark on a quest to prevent the resurrection of an ancient, malevolent entity. What sets "Sea of Stars" apart is its innovative 'Harmony' combat system, seamlessly blending turn-based mechanics with real-time actions. This system encourages players to strategize and synchronize the actions of the two protagonists, combining their abilities to unleash powerful tandem attacks against foes.

Visually, "Sea of Stars" boasts hand-drawn pixel art that exudes charm and oozes nostalgia. The environments are richly detailed, from lush forests and tranquil rivers to daunting dungeons and mystical temples. Prepare to navigate through cascading waterfalls and other natural wonders. This artistic direction adds a sense of authenticity to the game's retro-inspired aesthetic while allowing it to stand out with its own unique visual identity. With its promising blend of engaging storytelling, innovative gameplay mechanics, and enchanting visuals, Sea of Stars looks poised to capture the hearts of both long-time RPG enthusiasts and newcomers to the genre alike.

I'm not usually big on turn-based RPGs, but I had to give Sea of Stars a chance since it was included with my PS Plus membership the very first day ti released. Gameplay videos had me excited about the exploration of gorgeous landscapes, but I was unsure if the combat would be fun or not. Pokémon and Temtem are about as far as it goes for me when it comes to the turn-based RPG genre. Unless you count that one winter 6 or 7 years ago when I got addicted to grinding in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, but we won't talk about that.

Anyway, today's gameplay video will have my true first impressions of Sea of Stars. You will know by my reactions in the video as to whether or not I will be creating more Sea of Stars content.

Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

I saw the trailer very nice RPG reminded me a little final fantasy in its beginnings.
The fact that the sea is practically the main character gives it a plus.
Personally I would play it

It's seriously such an amazing game and well worth seeking out to play. I'll have a more in-depth review of the game in the coming days.

Looks cool this game, also like the pixel art how color tones change, the kind of game that would be cool to play when on the road using a hand held, Im planing to test some emulation on my (new for me) Note 10

My thoughts exactly, the perfect handheld game. I'm about to be gone from home this weekend and I'm considering just using PS Remote Play and my Backbone controller to play this game on my phone rather than bringing my massive PS5 with me.

It's reminiscent of many great turn-based RPGs of the past. A game I didn't know that I needed.
