Nuie 5 ounce black proof year of the dragon coin/ Re-blog lottery
Yesterday while I was researching the Chinese Zodiac for my previous post on the year of the dragon I realized that next year will again be another year of the dragon. This coming year will be the wood dragon, with the wood representing strength and flexibility like bamboo. Just by chance I happened to find a coin being produced for the upcoming year of the dragon by country of Nuie.
Nuie is a small island nation in the South Pacific that is a beautiful place from the pictures I've seen, but I've never had the chance to visit. It is also a country that probably produces the most commemorative coins of any nation on the planet. Almost any popular cultural subject you can think of they have probably minted a coin, everything from Disney characters, DC comics, video games, etc... The list goes on and on.
To celebrate the year of the dragon they are producing several coins with limited mintages. The one that caught my eye was this five ounce silver black proof with gold plating with two dragons on the the reverse. The artist and engravers went all out on this one, it looks to be one awesome coin.

Reverse: Two Chinese dragons, one gold plated

This coin isn't available for sale yet, and only one seller has a price published at $410 US. It won't be an inexpensive coin but is impressive. Will I shell out to buy it? I haven't decided, maybe some other sellers will have a better price (crossing my fingers). But it looks to be an awesome addition to anyone's stack! If I can fit it in my budget I would love to have one!
Since this coming year of the dragon will be the wood dragon I decided to try my luck to see if I could find any interesting wood dragons. I knew I wasn't going to be as lucky as yesterday when I found the Chinese water dragon. However, I did find a really cool artists conception of a wood dragon.

I think the artist did an amazing job. The only problem I could think of is that a dragon made of wood probably couldn't breathe fire or it would likely incinerate itself. Anyone else have an opinion on that one? But a very cool artist's rendition!

I found the coin interesting for next year, I liked the design of the dragons, and it caught my attention that it is a coin inspired by Asian mythology, but it has the portrait of the King of England... I seriously did not expect that combination.
