Hello my friends, today is October 29th Republic Day, I told you in my Atatürk Museum post that the most important person for a Turk is Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Today is the 100th anniversary of the Republic, the most beautiful thing Atatürk gave us as a gift.

When I think about 100 years ago, I better understand how incredible what Atatürk did was. Even today, there are people who defend the caliphate and monarchy. And the people who say this don't even realize that the freedom to say this comes from democracy and the republic. To bring a huge country back to its feet and make it rise from the ashes, even in a game, it is impossible to do that, but imagine how difficult it is to achieve in real life. Therefore, I once again remember Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms and that glorious nation with gratitude and I congratulate all citizens of Turkey on the Republic Day.

I'm not going to lie, I don't know if it's just me or if all holidays are less enthusiastic these days, but I remember that everyone used to celebrate them with more enthusiasm and joy. In my opinion, today should have been celebrated more spectacularly because the republic will only be a hundred years old once. And I or my child will not be able to see the next centennial celebration.

Nevertheless, the excitement of a child walking around with a flag just now took me back to the past. When I was a child, we used to run like crazy through the streets with flags in our hands, singing songs and anthems on the Republic Day. I would love to be that kind of child today and I would like to memorize the poem given to me by my teacher and recite it with enthusiasm. Those were really good days.

Merhaba dostlarım, bugün 29 Ekim Cumhuriyet Bayramı, sizlere bir Türk için en önemli insanın Mustafa Kemal Atatürk olduğunu Atatürk Müzesi postumda söylemiştim. Bugün de Atatürk'ün bize armağan ettiği en güzel şey olan Cumhuriyet'in 100. yıl dönümü.

Bundan 100 yıl öncesini düşününce Atatürk'ün yaptığı şeyin aslında ne kadar inanılmaz bir şey olduğunu daha iyi anlıyorum. Günümüzde bile hilafeti, monarşiyi savunan insanlar var. Üstelik bunu söyleyen insanlar bunu söyleyebilme özgürlüğünü bile demokrasiden ve cumhuriyetten aldığının farkında değiller. Koskoca bir ülkeyi yeniden ayağa kaldırmak ve tam anlamıyla küllerinden doğmasını sağlamak, bir oyunda bile bunu yapmak imkansızken gerçek hayatta başarmak ne kadar zordur siz düşünün. Bu yüzden Atatürk'ü, silah arkadaşlarını ve o şanlı milleti bir kez daha minnetle anıyorum ve tüm Türkiye vatandaşlarının cumhuriyet bayramını kutluyorum.

Yalan söylemeyeceğim, bugünlerde bütün bayramlar eskisinden daha az coşkulu ya da bana mı öyle geliyor bilmiyorum. Ama eskiden herkesin daha coşkulu ve keyifli bir şekilde bu bayramları kutladığını hatırlıyorum. Bana göre bugün hepsinden daha görkemli kutlamalar yapılmalıydı çünkü cumhuriyet sadece bir defa yüz yaşında olacak. Ve bir sonraki yüzüncü yıl kutlamasını ben ya da çocuğum göremeyecek.

Yine de az önce elinde bayrakla dolaşan bir çocuğun o heyecanı beni geçmişe götürdü. Çocukken cumhuriyet bayramında elimizde bayraklarla caddelerde deli gibi koşardık, şarkılar, marşlar söylerdik. İşte bu gün de öyle bir çocuk olmayı çok isterdim ve öğretmenim tarafından bana verilen şiiri ezberleyip coşkuyla okumak isterdim. O günler gerçekten güzel günlerdi.

Postumu Atatürk'ün en güzel sözlerinden biriyle bitirmek istiyorum: Benim naçiz vücudum elbet bir gün toprak olacaktır ama Türkiye Cumhuriyeti ilelebet payidar kalacaktır. Okuduğunuz için çok teşekkür ederim, umarım beğenmişsinizdir. Kendinize iyi bakın ve coşkulu bir gün geçirin!
