2026 Australia Gold Kangaroo 1/10 oz
I picked up a new gold coin in January that deserves a little highlight. It is the 2026 Australia Gold Kangaroo with the “40” privy mark. It celebrates 40 years of the Australian Nugget series. The Nuggets are the first official Australian gold coins.
I like it when a coin has a real reason behind it instead of just being another yearly release, and this one actually does. That's a reason I bought the gold coin, lol.
The two kangaroos look like they’re caught mid‑jump ☝️, kicking up water as they move. The ripples, the splashes, even the mountains behind them all work together to give the design real movement. A lot of coins just look pressed into metal. This one feels like an actual scene frozen in time. Just compare it to other gold kangaroos.
The Gold Nugget and Kangaroo coin series was first introduced in 1987 by Gold Corp., an entity owned by the Western Australian government, who oversees operations at The Perth Mint. Today, not only are the Gold Kangaroos available in the 1 oz gold BU coin, but also in smaller fractional sizes.

What started with the old Nugget designs has changed a lot over the years, and this coin shows that whole journey. You can see the shift from those early, plain styles to the sharper, more detailed look the Perth Mint makes today.

I just got some 2026 Perth coins 🪙
I bought some extra gold after selling 20% my silver pile when we were at $115 spot. Got lucky getting 90% of Spot at the top, before the crash down. Decided I’d buy an extra ounce of gold and got a 2025 & 2026 1/2 ounce. I went a little overboard with the extra cash raised from dumping 20% my silver but thought adding some extra gold outside my DCAing made sense, otherwise I’m holding it to buy bitcoin when we go below 60K. Even if silver skyrockets, I just thought having what I did, reducing it by 20% was smart.

Gold it's always more stable, and usually holds more of its value during crashes than Silver!!!

I got all 1/4 ounce coins last year, and needed two more to make it a even 20 so was happy to see I could pay same price for these two 1/4’s as one half ounce. Normally the premium is higher I think ,so u pay extra but it was same price getting these two as one half. Supposed to come today but we got a blizzard so probably not going until tomorrow 🤷🏼♂️
I got carried away and bought a few extra instead of one every 4 weeks but for once it actually worked out seeing how much lower price was first half of 2025! We shall see how next year goes. I’m gonna switch to buying 1 ounce rounds again and just put the money I used for 1/4 monthly aside and save for a few months. You think it’s worth having more than 10 or 15 1/10 rounds? I have a bunch of maples from like 2017 but thought that’s enough for the size, also the premium tends to add up to so much extra but that said there’s definitely many reasons to have smaller coins, including hiding them mixed with dimes 👀

With the price of gold getting so high, and now that I am on a Fixed income, freeing up cash for even a 1/10 oz. gold coin is tough. I'm glad that I've reached my primary gold stack goal before got on benefits.
